The assault on natural medicine - vitamin & mineral supplements and herbal preparations - has been gathering pace over recent years.

Here in the UK the introduction of herbal licensing laws has had a devastating impact on the herbal market. Many herbal preparations are no longer available, those that are have soared in price.

Proposals to limit vitamin and mineral supplements to RDA levels were successfully beaten off, for now at least.

You have more chance of dying by being hit by a bolt of lightning than due to an adverse reaction to herbal or vitamin supplements.

They also state that admission to a EU hospital poses double the risk of death than cancer or smoking.

Its hardly a surprising statistic!

Whats sad though is the fact that even with our socialised health care in the UK the pharmaceutical companies still have so much power over legislation.

Even though many of the drugs we purchase have roots in natural medicines in order for them to be effective.

Its all about them maximising profits and feeding the public conciousness with scare stories to keep pushing people to profitable forms of health care.
