Default Vitamin B-12; Do you take it? What type?

Trying to make a poll here.

Ahh good! It worked. Just about finished with Dr Brownstein's book on B-12.

So, step up, take the poll, maybe you'll win a prize!

I love the work Dr. Brownstein has done on Iodine/Thyroid. I look forward to hearing what he says about B12. I've been upping my meat intake lately. I have B12 in the M form but the formula has xylitol in it so the box sits on my shelf. There is no room for brain damage from the excitotoxins in xylitol in this already fragile brain of mine.

Xylitol; Is that the stuff that supposedly is good for your teeth, the alcohol sugar?

I too shun all that chemical excitotoxins stuff, like MSG.

I take a B-50 daily, and only buy a B-12 supplement if I'm feeling run down. It's always sublingual cyanocobalmin. Keeping my fingers crossed for the prize SG.

PS: just came from the health food store and picked up some that was on sale, and it's Methyl-Cobalmin. What did you learn from the book, is one form preferred over the others? Which one is the least desireable?

I haven't heard anything about xylitol being an excitotoxin.. do you have sources for the info? I try to avoid anything that is inflammatory and excitotoxins/neurotoxins in my diet. Don't really intake much xylitol, always stevia, but there are some cases where I do.

DING DING!!!

Methyl and Hydroxy are the natural forms, which are most usable and desirable. Our bodies must convert the cyano, and the conversion is about 10%.

Cyano, like the name sounds, has cyanide in it and is not a natural form of B-12.

There are rare cases of the Cyanocobalmin causing optic nerve damage in individuals who are genetically susceptible.

The local vitamin chain in this area has the Source Naturals 1mg 120 tabs for around $10. Bargain compared to the 75% that were cyano and more expensive per unit.
