Vitamin B deficiency can aggravate them. There are so many things that can. Even Celiac and Chrones can make you susceptible. Acidic foods can do this to many people as well, such as citrus fruit.
But I haven't heard of any herbs or supplements that can cause a break out. I think licorice root can help. It has been used for 1000s of years for many things. It's an adaptogen. If you have high blood pressure, don't take the licorice root for a long duration. Otherwise it is quite safe.
Suck on a zinc lozenge. Zinc is well know for killing pathogens.
