Default harmful ionic silver---WHAT BS!

Quote:
Behind those concerns lies a very simple experiment. Benn and Westerhoff bought six pairs of name brand anti-odor socks impregnated with nanosilver. They soaked them in a jar of room temperature distilled water, shook the contents for an hour and tested the water for two types of silver the harmful ionic form and the less-studied nanoparticle variety. https://www.nanowerk.com/news/newsid=5208.php
What BS. There are hundreds of thousands of people swilling down ionic silver with no dire consequences. I suspect some competing interest is funding this scare.

from the article:
Quote:
If you start releasing ionic silver, it is detrimental to all aquatic biota. Once the silver ions get into the gills of fish, its a pretty efficient killer, said Benn. Ionic silver is only toxic to humans at very high levels. The toxicity of nanoparticle silver, said Westerhoff, has yet to be determined.
what is the difference between nanoparticle silver and Ionic silver, Iggy?

As far as I know, nanoparticles are simply small particles consisting of 1 or a few atoms of silver. Ionic silver is a silver atom which is missing an electron, which makes it more reactive to microbes. Most home CS generators produce 80 to 95% ionic silver with the balance being nanosilver.

We're talking about minuscule amounts of silver. When diluted into ground water, I doubt it would even be detectable.

These scientists have an agenda. They're force feeding it in high concentrations, to prove their preconceived notion.

I would bet that infinitely more nano silver and ionic silver is dumped into our landfills via discarded elecronic and photographic products.

Nano is just a buzz-word. CS was nano before nano was cool.
The "invention" of "BuckyBalls or Fullerenes" was a big deal in 1985 and ushered in the nano craze....then they discovered that common soot consisted of natural carbon buckyballs. Nanotechnology will eventually revolutionize materials technology and there is concern about how such microscopic waste will impact our environment.

I take ionic silver every day and so does my son. We brush our teeth with it, gargle with it, and take it when we don't feel so good. We squirt it up our noses and put it in our ears. I even put a small amount in my cats water to kill germs and keep his gums healthly. We use it topically on rashes and scratches! When my son gets a suspicious lump, he is prone to boils (or was I should say), we put silver on it. It also kills fungus. I wouldn't be without it and hope I don't ever have to be! ABTW, I have been using it for three years and I have not turned blue, neither has my son. Even if that was a side effect, it would be worth it IMO!

He also added sodium chloride to the solution to speed up production time. (adding salt to distilled water reduces resistance, thus increases current flow, as per Ohm's law)

The bottom line is that he drank silver chloride, not colloidal silver. The silver particals were very large, high ppm, and he drank several glasses per day for years... that is why he turned blue.

Even though he consumed improperly made silver, (besides being blue) he was healthy.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but it's still showing up on search results ... that is how I found it. So, even though it's not a new discussion, there is some erroneous information in the form of a quote from an article displayed here that I could not find any references for ... that being that ionic silver is "detrimental to all aquatic biota" ... this appears to be a statement without any solid facts. From what I understand, ionic silver would not be anything that is harmful to fish. There are a lot of things we put into water that are harmful to fish, but I do not believe that ionic silver is one of them. Just thought I would try to clarify this a bit and point out that this is not a referenced statement (in the article) by a marine biologist or other professional in the field of fish study.

There are large amounts of silver in the ocean now, and no harmful effects. This is just one more pathetic attempt to get people to stop using colloidal silver.

Silver is not mercury.

I did some research in an attempt to find information about the "turning blue" claim. The ONLY information I found concerned colloidal silver. Here is what I found: Back years and years ago, a man made his own colloidal silver and he did not make it right; because of that, he turned blue. It was the ONLY information I found about ANYONE turning blue because they took colloidal silver.

I believe the negative issues being brought up about silver is a simple case of someone (and most of us know who that is) wanting it off the market because it WORKS and is SAFE.

I don't trust anything from The Oprah Inc. propaganda machine.

The Dr. Oz link is broke, but then I looked at the date of the post, and wasn't surprised.

Many people on this forum take CS and I personally haven't seen any negative feedback.
