Default A good pre-workout drink.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and am really looking forward to contribute and meet new people!

I'm interested if anyone knows a good drink to take before working out. I would like something that is able to give you a boost of energy but maybe doesn't have all of that caffeine. I notice that even the "organic" energy drinks have "organic" caffeine and guarana, etc. I really hate that crash I get afterward and I don't want to be too tired once I'm done.

I eat well but, I'm just looking for an extra boost I guess.

Thanks a lot and I look forward to talking to you all!

I would look into MSM. It's a form of sulfur that increases energy and reduces post workout soreness. You can buy the crystals and put them into water before and after you work out. Forget energy drinks. They're typically loaded with artificial colors and sugar.

I heard this was just used primarily for osteoporosis and pain. Is the increased energy you get from taking that maybe just a good side effect?

Do you recommend it?

It just so happens the time I workout it's about an hour before I had a cup or two of green tea. I grew up on guarana as a kid and I do think it's better than heavy caffeine, but my uncle went to the hospital back in the 1970's from drinking too much of it. It's sold as a soda forum in Brazil as it has always been sold there.

I honestly think post workout drink is probably more important and pre-workout drink. If you want energy then you can probably do somethings that are natural and then a post workout meal/protein to rebuild

I like to make healthy shakes that are full of protein and antioxidants. I get a blender and put in a handful of ice cubes. Then I put a cup of lowfat almond milk or soymilk, 3 T of protein power (natural), 1/2 a banana, strawberries, blackberries, and a scoop of peanut butter or soynut butter. (secret ingredient: spinach ....You can't even taste it!) It's really good.

My best results come from the usage of vitamin B supplements. Caffeine also gives a burst of energy just make sure if you take vitamin B supplements that you have a eaten a small meal before hand.
