Default sarcopenia

There was a special on TV about sarcopenia, which I didn't really know there was a medical term for it. On show it said sarcopenia effects people starts effecting people who are over the age of 25 and they can lose up to 0.5-1% of skeletal muscle mass and strength.

Just another reason why strength training is important

Its mainly people over 65 who suffer from sarcopenia. Not only do they exercise less but as they get older they eat less protein in favor of more carbs. This is usually due to finding protein harder to digest due to lower stomach acid and dental problems.

I just have a friend that is extremely weak that is having back problems and a horrible posture. He's in his 30's, but I just instantly think how my wife doesn't lift weights on a regular bases, yet she's stronger than he is by far. I guess each person is a little different depending on your genes in that it might effect some in their late 20's while other people in their late 60's.
