This incredible photo marks the end of Matador Torero Alvaro Munera's career. He collapsed in remorse mid-fight when he realized he was having to prompt this otherwise gentle beast to fight. He went on to become an avid opponent of bullfights. (The look on this bull's face says it all for me. Even grievously wounded by picadors, he did not attack this man.)

Torrero Munera is quoted as saying of this moment: "And suddenly, I looked at the bull. He had this innocence that all animals have in their eyes, and he looked at me with this pleading. It was like a cry for justice, deep down inside of me. I describe it as being like a prayer - because if one confesses, it is hoped, that one is forgiven. I felt like the worst **** on earth."

Its so sad what those poor creatures have had to go through, any sport involving the use and abuse of animals should be banned, I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to watch such cruel sports.
The same with rodeo's that is cruel also.
Its just a shame it took so long for that Matador to wake up.

I also feel sad for these poor animals, so many people enjoy those bloodsports, it's sickening! Kudos to the matador, hope others will follow in his path.

Some say that the consciousness and spiritually of man is rising. It looks like it might just have exploded in front of that matador.

My husband studied in Madrid years ago and went to a bullfight because it was sort of the "thing to do" at the time. Horrified doesn't even begin to describe his reaction.

Maybe the example of this matador will eventually prove an inspiration to spectators to give up this ancient practice. I hope so.

Part of Spain banned bullfighting in 2011. But don't worry. Humans will find another bloody pastime, like cockfighting, or dog fighting, or cage fighting.
