I used to like those big roped braided "Booda Bones". They were made of natural undyed cotton, and they were great for teething puppies or chewers. Now they're made of polyester or a blend, dogs don't care for them that much anymore, and they shred easily.

I remember the Booda line. I had bought the puppy I got in '93 (her) a Booda ball; Had a hole through it. Motto was, "Only your dog knows the secret to the hole."
I remember the cynical sales guy, "What do they mean, your dog knows the secret? There's no secret."
The hole let the tiny puppy jaw pick it up, and it was a toy that lasted her whole lifetime.
Only thing that my dog hasn't been able to destroy and she loves is a tug-a-war rope. We through it for fetch and play tug-a-war with her and it's the only thing she hasn't been able to destroy. I've seen her destroy a toy in less than 20 minutes from me bring it home and ironically the rope was probably the cheapest toy.
deer antlers has been her favorite thing to chew on for hours
We bought our dogs a couple of soccer balls reasonably cheap and to us quite tough, but in a matter of 5minutes our Lab had punctured both of them, but I must admit they seem to have more fun chasing one another around with them in their mouths flat, its so dissapointing though as we thought they might have lasted a bit longer than that, without being punctured.
It seems to me Labradors dont like to see any play thing intact.
Durable yes, indestructible NO!
Mine love anything that squeaks. But the soft squishy dollar store toys can be shredded within minutes.
Going to hardware store and buying a 3-4 foot length of nylon rope (the thicker the better) and tying a knot at either end is something they enjoy and actually holds up for awhile. However I have yet to be able to tie a knot that they could not untie!
