Default Neck Worries!

Hi Folks,

hope everyone is in good health, and if you aren't I hope you soon will be!

The neck problem concerns my wife. She thinks its a trapped nerve. Her neck is sore, and when she coughs or sneezes it sends an electric shock down her spine. Also she is suffering with headaches. We will be making an appointment to see the doctor, but in the meantime I thought I'd put it here to see what folk think about what may be the problem.

My wife has not been in any car accidents or had a fall, so their is nothing we can pinpoint this problem down to.

Thanking you in advance!

Namaste!

Hello revzen, been missing you, good to hear from you again. Sorry that your wife is having such pain, I think she's correct in thinking it is nerve related. I'm not an expert by far, but if it were me, I'd try rubbing the sore neck area with magnesium oil, and taking MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) to relieve any inflammation internally. I'm thinking that it might be swelling that's causing a nerve to be temporarily pinched...just my thoughts.

Hey Revzen... good to hear from you.

Please do not bother going to a medical doctor... please take this advice from someone who has had chronic neck issues all my life... well at least since age 19.

Only chiropractic can help at this point. Look for a chiropractor that does Gonstead technique. The nerve pain is caused by a pinced nerve from pressure from a misalligned vertebra. She can be much better in about 6 to 10 alignments.

Medical doctors have no clue and she will only walk out there with a pain medication drug.

A good neck massage can also assit but the chiropractic is essental

They should do an xray of the neck.. There you will likely see what the problem is. If it is really something severe that a surgeon can help with, that is the ONLY reason to go to a medical doctor... Physical therapy can also help to stregthen neck muscle to keep the vertebre in line and a good chiro should give you some neck exercises that WILL NOT WORK UNLESS YOU DO THEM

If the nerve pain persists even though the general condition improves it will because the sheith of the nerve has been damaged. It will eventually go away but it can be sped up with injections of B12. One milligram a day for two weeks. then bi weekly then weekly then monthly... or purchase on line a 10mg shot and take one every other day for two weeks, then weekly for 4 weeks then monthly.

apologies for the delay in responding!

many thanks for your posts and very helpful suggestions

the neck problem has gone! It appears to have been triggered by the draught in our bedroom as we have now moved the bed, and hey presto, no more neck pain. But if it returns.......we are armed and ready
