Default ankle sprain/twisted

Hi
My wife sprained/twisted her ankle pretty good last night. She can walk with pain so not broke and we iced it but pretty swollen and a little black and blue. What can we do to help it heal. I thought maybe magnesium oil to help relax the musles , would that help? Any other thoughts? Should she start to switch between cold / heat ?
Thanks

I would use mag oil, and also switch from hot to cold compresses. MSM (Methyl-sulfonyl-methane) may also help with the swelling and pain. Of course, keeping the ankle elevated is always recommended.
