I had back pain on and off for a couple of decades and then it gradually went away over a period of a couple of months without me doing anything. I thought nothing of it at the time because it wasn't unusual for me to go for a month or two without any significant pain, but after a couple of years of being pain free, I think I know the original cause of the problem. My back started getting better when my cat died. Yes you did read that right. The thing is that I always sleep face down and my cat refused to sleep anywhere at night except in the middle of my back. I thought nothing of it at the time because the cat was just a floppy diffuse weight with no pressure points on my back, but now I am convinced that the cat was the problem. If any other back pain sufferers allow pets to sleep on their back, you really should stop the pet from doing it for a while and see if it improves the condition of your back. I doubt that I am unique in having a pet sleep on me, so this information may be useful to someone.
