Default TCM Cold & Flu Formula - Yin Qiao San

Is Yin Qiao San a tea?

I was reading on the TCM page that doctors are saying they are really surprised by its effectiveness to ward off and fight the flu and cold.

Where can you buy this tea?
Is there a certain brand that is better than others?

Is there anything in it that I should be aware of before I drink it?

Is it more effective to take it in pill form or tea form?

Thumbs up

Personally, I've never heard of it, but I think anything in a hard pill form is less affective than a liquid
or a capsule. Are you aware that just eating some fresh garlic daily will also keep away colds and flu?
And be sure to keep up with the Vit D3 on a daily basis during Winter months.

Wind Heat:
Characteristics:

  • the fever is worse than the chills
  • the pulse is faster than normal
  • swollen and sore throat with headache and irritability
  • If there is a cough, it is usually dry or nonproductive, with occasional expectoration of yellow mucus.
For wind heat, Chinese doctors typically prescribe herbal formulas containing chrysanthemum flowers, mulberry leaf, mint, peppermint, honeysuckle, forsythia buds, burdock seed, and licorice.
Numerous formulas are available in Chinese Medicine to treat the many variations of this condition. The most commonly used is a formula called Yin Qiao San. It is used for treating influenza, tonsillitis, and the common cold, is available as the patent formula Yin Qiao lie nu Pian."

I found this:

the chinese medicine people need to get with the natural western people....and vice versa....

they're all preaching the same thing.....using nature and plants to heal ourselves....

we need to band together....there seems to be a disconnect from one to the other....

"A friend of mine traveled to China last winter. She told me that when she visited a college there, she saw every student in the cafeteria drinking a kind of herbal tea for the prevention of cold and flu before their lunch. She thought that was very interesting and asked me what they were drinking. I told her that every school in China, from grade school through college, offers herbs to the students during the flu season to prevent cold and flu. There are quite a few teas and herbal formulas available for prevention purposes."
