Default Constant runny nose, oral mucus discharge

I have had a perennial flare-up of a constant runny nose and also mucus discharge in my throat(especially upon first waking up) which I have to expel from my mouth for a few years now.

I have tried various natural remedies:
-- butterbur capsules
-- stinging nettle capsules
-- oregano oil
-- an Oxy-powder colon cleanse
-- neti pot
-- mega doses of Vitamin C
to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

try some simple things first....try changing your laundry detergent, or maybe switch over to flannel sheets...if you use smelly good chemicals to make your room smell good or light smelly candles stop that for awhile and see if you have an allergy.... Might want to try and put a vaporizer in the room, and put some moisture in the air. check your room temps, is it too hot, or too cold.... are you drinking milk before you go to bed....might be a milk allergy....I have always believed in starting with the simple stuff first.... when my daughter started with the stuffy nose and the sneezing and the mucous we discoverd that its all the smelly good stuff...perfume drives her up a wall. certain candles and air fresheners also cause her lots of coughing problems.

Good advice! Especially since Thrasymachus mentions perennial flare-up & the question is posted in Nov.

I'll add; dust & vacuum your room thoroughly daily. Shake your blankets outside because as soon as you pull them up, dust becomes airbound.

And buy your own detergent.

A tincture of Wild Cherry Bark is very effective in removing mucus and phlegm from the throat and general throat health.

@just me:
If it was up to me believe me, the household would be using almost no harsh chemical cleaners, detergents or deodorizers. They tend to cost more, they introduce toxins and they get into the sewer system and back into our water. But my ignorant shopping addicted mom keeps buying far too many of them under the guise she is saving money during promotional sales. We have so much laundry detergent we won't need to buy any for several years. Otherwise I would have tried the natural soap nuts I heard Mike Adams mention in a Naturalnews.com article and spare the contamination of clothing, blankets and bed sheets with petrochemicals. I also have not drunk milk for over a year, since I turned vegan.

@kind2creatures:
I did some searching on Wild Cherry Bark and alot of people have said it helped them for congestion, mucus and other cold symptoms. Also considering that it only cost $5 on Vitacost I added it to my shopping cart and next order I will try it. Hopefully it works, because I am starting to have a real collection of items that don't.

I also must mention that I recently took a whole bulb of garlic, dehusked all the slivers and tried to juice it in my Champion juicer, but it would not go down. So I put in a cucumber and it pushed the garlic juice down along with alot of cucumber juice. It was very strong and nasty but eventually I got it down. That did not really help either.

This is a response from another thread:

I will reply here, since it fits more in this thread, than the one it was posted on.

I don't really have a cold. What I have is a constantly recurring runny nose and throat mucus. I have not tried colloidal silver for it, though. I am wary of trying too many things, thus incurring too much cost and wasting too much space in my medicine/vitamin cabinet.

Have you tried eliminating dairy products from your diet? I remember as a small child, my father saying 'milk causes mucus'. If the mucus is way down in the lungs, then a tincture of pleurisy root will help bring it up.

I have been vegan for over a year now, it cannot be milk. I used to drink store bought soy milk instead for a while, then I started listening to Gary Null and transitioning to healthy veganism. Now I make my own cashew milk(since cashews do not need any straining) with my powerful Vitamix blender.

This sure seems like an infection, rather than allergy. It is very possible that it is an allergy though. It reminds me of what happens when you have Leaky Gut Syndrome (permeable intestines). This is more common than you might realize. Sure happened to me, and still trying to get over it. Minuscule food exits the intestines, and the immune system sees it as an invader - thus allergy. Even friendly probiotics will be seen as an allergen. Trust me on that - experience.

But in your case, it seems like an infection. This happened to me. The excess mucus was so disgusting as well as swollen sinus. This went on for a year, before I realized what I was fighting. Then I went to the doctor, and for the first and only time in my life, he prescribed an antibiotic / antifungal for me. It cleared in 7 days. A year of misery. 7 day cure. But in a month it started to return. Fungal cells must be completely eradicated, or they will propagate quickly and within 10 days. No natural antifungal helped, not even colloidal silver. I think it has to do with the sinuses being too far away from the blood stream or something like that. I resorted to fluconozole (Diflucan) for a 10 day course. Got them from an out of country pharm with no prescription. That worked. Now I just have to occasionally take natural antifungals for prevention.

Still addressing leaky gut though. Finding ways to improve glutamine production.

Have you tried this vitamin C?
It can provide IV levels without the IV.
This is what I would try. 2 teaspoons 3 x day
https://www.healthyitems.com/liposoma...C-p/614.16.htm
read the product info carefully and watch the video

and do neti pot flushes with baking soda.

This is similar to www.livonlabs.com product but less expensive.

@cookie:
I do not think it is from laundry or vacuuming. It flares up worst when I go outside for run or go to work at my job which is like a large garage with no heating. Actually most vacuums kick up dust, I found this video that shows how much dust most kick up:

Youtube External link: Miele Vacuum Cleaners Work. Miele Vacuums are Truly HEPA.
He measures most popular vacuum brands with a particle counter and all kick up lots of dust and other allergens into the air, because they are not truly sealed air-tight, they are cheaply made. The only one that is well sealed. that can actually clean the air from dust, pollen and other allergens as measured by a particle counter is the more expensive made in USA, Miele brand.

@Arrowwind09:
What makes you think that the label claim of that company that their liquid vitamin C has intravenous level uptake can be true and hidden from the attention of most? I have read the opposite, that liquid vitamins are usually the worst, by the time they reach you, they probably have already lost their effectiveness.

@kind2creatures:
I tried Wild Cherry Bark extract before work this morning, where I usually have to blow out my nose alot, and it did not seem to help at all.

Wheatgrass juice does not help either.

This problem is really starting to get at me. We had our first snowfall yesterday in Northern NJ and as I shoveled the driveway I had to constantly come inside to stop and blow my nose. Also it really prevents me from wanting to run either. I am getting tired of not being able to go out much because of this mucus problem.

You're not alone on that one. Ever since I could remember, my nose runs when the air is cold. If I'm out shoveling snow, you'll see me several times take off my glove, get out the tissue, and wipe. It's very watery, not really enough to blow. I've accepted it, and am just happy that it's not a cold, haven't had one of those for several years.
