Your friend needs to stop the high carb diet.. More good fats, fiber, and protein along with some complex carbs would be a good start. Dark green juices or concentrated powder extracts together with phytonutrients and antioxidants are also necessary.
Insulin resistance is a symptom that can be traced back to a fungal issue, which can be traced back to a vitamin/mineral deficency.
Looking at this another way, a vitamin/mineral deficiency causes immune system stress, which causes an overgrowth of fungi, and these fungi excreet mycotoxic poisons that create havoc in the body in many ways, including blocking insulin receptors in the cells. The high carb diet feeds the fungi, causing more mycotoxins to be produced.
