I've got patches of poison ivy on my arm from wrist to elbow and its ITCHY!!
Would a cloth soaked in Epsom salt water and wrapped around my arm, help dry the rash up?
I know if I saw a doctor, he'd put me on steriods. I'd like to try home remedies first.
Any suggestions?
I'm using an aloe gel and an antihistamine, which does help with the itch. I am hoping to do something to make it go AWAY completely! Started with it on Monday.
I don't know if it is organic or not, but I have always used Caladryl lotion for poison ivy. Works great!. They have a new version that is clear. I don't have any to see if there are any toxic ingredients in it. Good luck!
A couple of suggestions... granted, they arent organic, but.....
Supposedly life bouy soap will heal poison ivy almost over night, but I have never tried it... We always put a bit of clorox bleach in a bowl of water, and dip a rag in the water and wipe the rash with the wet rag... seems to clear it up pretty good for us.... To me, using the clorox for the rash is still better then using the meds the doctors will prescribe!!!!!
Bigbird from the old forum sent me the addy for a wildcrafting forum... Was glancing through it, and noticed they had a recommendation for poison ivy..... check this page out.... this forum seems kind of interesting... something we might enjoy.

Here is a link to a Burt's Bees soap for poison ivy that I just ran across. I've never tried it but it may be worth a try. You can probably find it in a good health food store. Jewelweed seems to be most recommended for poison ivy and there are other products here with it, but do read the precautions because poison ivy rash resembles other more serious conditions.

Health Letter, that Aloe Vera GEL is great for Poison ivy.
Very posssibly you can buy this from a good Health Food Store.

Xania, I know you werent criticizing... I am glad you caught that before too many people got an eye full.... sorry folks, I did say that I glanced, and apparently it was a really quick glance.... Hope I didnt offend anyone... maybe we can just sort of slide by the garbage and pick out some of the good stuff... we are good at that arent we!!!!! I'm using an aloe vera gel on my arm. It is finally getting better! Some of the areas are drying up and fading away. The worst spots are also improving. I've been using a natural antihistamine for the itch and when I added an immune booster things got better faster.

I've had poison ivy many times as a girl, so I know what it is. Unfortuanately! As long as I don't touch it I'm ok. I will have to get somebody to pull out all the poison ivy on this property. Thats one of the not so fun things to find out about your new property/house after you move.
