Default IBS and protein cravings

I have IBS or a gut infection/candida problem and crave protein, I take some undenatured whey in my supplement drinks, I also have a lot of gas which is sometimes painful, could this be the whey? Is there a better source for extra protein and the essential aminos? I feel my body is healing slowly and must be rebuilding and I am taking a tsp or so of L-Gluatamine, I have read it's good to heal the gut, should I take more? Anything else that will help my gut heal?

NOW brand products makes an amino acids supplement called Pro HGH. I put it in smoothies. You might give that a try. Make sure you take HCL and pepsin with protien foods to assist digestion. Another option might be raw egg whites in smoothies

Pro GH seems like a good combo of aminos....can you take to much of these aminos? I have been taking the L-Glutamine, about 2-3 tsp daily in divided doses, I have 3-4 different L-Glutamine products, they are all white powder but taste different, one is very bitter....hummm....and they have different dose recommendations... I read somewhere you can take to much Glutamine and harm yourself, is this correct?

Arrow, thanks for the recommendation...how do I know "how much" HCL and digestive enzymes is correct for me? The book "Why stomach acid is good for you" want's you to take like 5-7 HCL capsules per meal, and my MD does also, I can't believe it's the same for everyone, is there a way to find out how much is correct for each person?

You want to take an amount that does the job. One guidlline is to take enough just before eating so that your stomach feels warm. Then eat right away. It may be 5, it may be 10.

Taking a good probiotic daily will help rebuild the good bacteria in the intestines.

Glutamine is very good for the gut as is cabbage, especially cabbage juice.

For extra protein I would suggest hemp seeds and/or hemp protein powder.

Google slippery elm powder and see if it appeals. It coats the membranes and soothes.

I mentioned before I use Collagen Sport for protein, 30 g of protein and very gentle on the stomach. I have mine in cold coffee in the am in this heat. amazon has a good price and free shipping if you want to try it.
