I heard on the news over a week ago that mostly all copiers made after the year 2002 had hard drives which contained copies of everything, too bad because many times people make copies of important documents which include their personal info like SSNs.

This is a significant problem in all levels. I worked for a company that leased their printer/copier from a major vendor. They would replace the printers after a year or two. doubt that they knew about this; and that it could leak proprietary and even Defense department info. I'll betcha that there are a lot of companies designing their own security programs to wipe out this hard drive; or demanding it from printer/copier vendors.
Many of the modern copiers have the capability of emailing copied info to business partners. Email is already insecure. Now they have to be concerned with hard drive storage. I'll bet that companies will need to restructure their relaxed security.
