Default COQ10

Thank you for posting this. This is encouraging, since I've been taking COQ10 for other reasons for over a decade now at 240 mgs. daily. I have a disease which often ends up in Alzheimer's, or ALS, so I will take anything that helps.

Default more research on supplements

Here's some more (new) research on the potential benefits of supplements for those who suffer (or who may one day suffer from) Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease:

HH,
Thanks. I had not heard about Uridine. Already knew about the other two.

Default one more link

Roxie,

You're most welcome. I know the next bit of information is probably common knowledge but I'm posting it more as a reinforcement rather than as a revelation:

Antioxidants may counter some of the abnormalities that are present in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

Default AZD

Hi HH,
Yes, most of us know about antioxidants for AZD prevention, especially vitamins C and E. I think it is probably important to make sure you take the natural, not the synthetic versions of those vitamins and get as much as possible through food.
Case in point:
My MIL did all of the things they tell you to do to avoid AZD, and she did them her whole adult life, even before we started hearing about AZD. She walked and swam daily, she did puzzles and played games, she read a lot. She also could not have had mercury problems from fillings, since she had lost all of her teeth by age 30. However, she was one of those people for whom the depresson of the 1930's never ended in her mind, and she was very tight with money, so she bought the cheapest, synthetic versions of vitamins C & E.
She was diagnosed with AZD officially at age 77, after about 3 years of slowly starting to lose her mental capacity. Now at age 80, she is still very physically healthy, still takes no medications and never has, and may go on for years in this state. She can no longer speak and has no idea what planet she is on.
I am not blaming all of this on synthetic vitamins. I think there must be other factors in additon to that.
