The law with CII prescriptions

\r\n \r\n Considering our obsession over illegal drugs why doesn�t this surprise me?
\r\nI have a couple thoughts. The fact that you have talked to a number of pharmacists and they all have said something different tells me that this is a new law and nobody has had the time to study it yet. Therefore it might be worth seeing if a pharmacist or your doctor has a copy of the law and ask if you could read it. What it says and what they think it says could be two entirely different things.

\r\nSecondly I wound not waste to much time talking to your doctor�s office staff, at best they are just going to be following procedural orders. Rather I would talk directly to your doctor and see what he is willing do, who know he might simply write you two prescriptions at once and tell to fill the second one only after using up the first one.\r\n

\r\n \r\n What a difficult situation for you. I had heard that pain control medications are difficult to obtain in US. Is it possible that your doc could communicate with a doctor at your destination area and explain circumstances to him. Then you would have another source of prescription medication while away from home.

\r\n \r\n I would look into an offshore pharmacy. Some are reputable and some are not. I know you can get methadone this way. this site carries narcs but not methadone. perhaps you can use something else for a while.

\r\nYou should expect something better from a pain clinic. Id look for doc that will meet you needs. I would also look at prolotherapy. See my thread on Macular degerneration Reversed where I discuss prolotherapy some.

\r\n \r\n Arrow, I looked at the site you gave. It always bothers me when a supplier of prescription-only meds declares "No prescritpion needed"

\r\nHow can that be lawful? I suppose it must be, because it (online pharmacies) has been supplying medications for some years now, but I don\'t know how it works.
\r\nFor instance, if I wanted to stock up on antibiotics, without a prescription, could I get them?\r\n

\r\n \r\n I mainly wanted to thank all who replied to my problem. I will let ya know how it works out. I just don\'t feel comfortable not having that script in my hand when I go out of town. I will write again after the ordeal and let ya know if I got thru it ok. They said it could be mailed so we\'ll see.

\r\n \r\n I know this is an old post but the federal law says that you may not post date a prescription for a CII medication and it must be signed and dated the day it is written. I know Florida has some different laws because of the elderly population and because pharmacists can be more liberal in the changing of medications but I don\'t know if that particular federal law has been over written in that state.\r\n

\r\n \r\n I take Vyvanse, a controlled substance. My psychiatrist writes 3 Vyvanse prescriptions each time I visit his office. He dates all 3 with the same date, and at the bottom of the second scrip beneath his signature, in parenthesis, he writes (please fill 1/20/2011) if the date prescribed is 12/20/2010, on the third scrip, (please fill 2/20/2011).

\nThese medications cannot be ordered by mail nor called in to a pharmacy by your physician.\r\n

I'll make this brief. One of the personnel at my pain doctors office told me that it was the law that a doctor must see a patient every time they are given a CII drug such as methadone. The question I had posed to her was: I had to go out of state for 6 weeks and she gave me this stupid answer above along with, "well, what you will have to do is go on your trip, call us 4 days before your next appt and let us know you can't make it because you're out of state and we will write you a prescription with just enough meds to last you til you come back. We will mail it to your home address local and you can have someone mail it to where you are.
What is that all about???? Just up until recently docs were writing out three at a time, now the DEA has scared the daylights out of the professionals mostly the pharmacist I think. Now I know the law couldn't have changed that fast. But why are they passing on these lies and what really are they allowed to do exactly?
Thanks please answer me, I really need to know. I have ask pharmacist galore and each has something different to say. I live in Florida, pretty liberal and reasonable until recently I must say.
I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't have cancer and Lupus but I have enough problems without this too. Once again thanks whoever can help.
