I just came home from a funeral for a 30 year old girl... I have known her since she was a teen-ager. She went to sleep one evening, and didnt wake up the next morning. No one knows what transpired between the time she went to sleep, and the time her family found her in the morning. The autopsy showed chronic heart disease. Supposedly she was being treated for stomach problems and back problems, and someone had said that all those troubles she was having, and no one bothered to check her heart... I am curious, is stomach problems and back problems a sign of chronic heart disease???? I understand, that gastric reflux can supposedly be heart problems, but are they all related???? My youngest has been having stomach/ back issues for as long as I can remember, do I need to have her heart checked out??? What kind of test show chronic heart disease???

Shortness of breath may be an indicator
A stress test.
Carotid sonogram
Echocardiogram
Angiogram - invasive
some blood tests if there has been chest pain
cholesterol levels if very high may indicate a problem
Reflux is not a sign of cardiac disease.
Cardiac pain is sometimes misinterpeted as reflux pain and vis versa.
