Default Flax Oil and Blood Pressure

Quote:
Flaxseed ALA Lowers Blood Pressure
by Steve Myers 10/17/2007

ATHENS, GreeceIncreased alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) intake from flaxseed offers cardioprotection by lowering blood pressure (Euro J Clin Nutr. 2007;61:1201-06).

Researchers from Harokopio University and Laiko Hospital used a prospective, two-group, parallel-arm design to examine the effect on blood pressure of dietary supplementation with flaxseed oil, rich in ALA (8 g/d) for 12 weeks in 59 middle-aged dyslipidaemic men.

A control group of 28 dyslipidaemic men took safflower oil containing the equivalent of 11g/d omega-6 linoleic acid (LA). Arterial blood pressure was measured at the beginning and end of the dietary intervention period.

Supplementation with ALA resulted in significantly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels compared with LA. The researchers noted, We observed a hypotensive effect of ALA, which may constitute another mechanism accounting in part for the apparent cardioprotective effect of this omega-3 fatty acid.

Default is diet coke actually ok

Hi friends, I was wondering is diet coke actually ok while you are on diet? I know its like 5 calories but I have always wondered, last year when I went on a diet I didnt lose much, At that period I was drinking diet coke, Is that the reason while I failed to reduce weight? I hope you people have much more knowledge on this issue, so if anyone gives me a right reason then it will be very helpful for me.

No diet coke isnt really good for anything except maybe cleaning your battery cables on your car!!!
I have noticed, that the more diet coke you drink, the more you want, and the hungrier you get.... In all actuality, diet coke seems to make you eat more.... The best bet is to drink lots of water, and herbal teas preferably without sweeteners.

Thumbs down Diet Coke!

Diet coke is so not good for anything!!! Aspartame is an excitotoxin! It destroys the covering of the nerves in the brain! It causes Multiple Sclerosis and seizures! The body also see aspartame the same way it uses sugar. Raises blood sugar levels which actually makes you store fat! The phosphoric acid in coke depletes the body of calcium by making it not absorbable. My brother has demylenation of the nerves from drinking too many diet cokes. My brother-in-law is an epileptic from drinking too many diet cokes. My niece has a seizure when she drinks or eats anything with aspartame in it! Please, stop consuming diet coke. It will not help you lose weight and may do worse than that!
