RuthG is on a distinguished road
Default Hi Everyone

I joined a couple of days ago and completely missed this part of the forum! So have already posted my question.

But anyway, here's a brief intro:

I live in the UK and have a strong interest in natural health and want to live to be 100, but only if I'm healthy! Last year, my mother died; she was a young 76, full of life, with a real interest in life. She had remarried four years before to a man 13 years younger than her, which kept her young. However, she had had a DVT ten years before that and the Drs had put her on Wafarin. I knew enough about Warfarin to keep nagging her to get the Drs to take her off it again, but she wouldnt listen, thinking Drs knew what they were doing . Anyway, in January last year she was taken into hospital with Reynauds and blood pressure that couldnt be stabilised. She ended up in intensive care where she died in March, three days before Mother's Day (Mother's Day is in March in the UK). Cause of death on the death certificate was 'multiple organ failure'. What they didnt add was '..caused by being on Warfarin for way too long'. The Warfarin had caused the capillaries to necrotise and so every organ was short in supply of oxygen and blood supply - not surprising she died, then!

So now I want to be sure to avoid those things that killed her and (apologies to any conventional Drs here) keep well away from Drs !

RuthG, I didn't wait around, and welcomed you when I replied to your weigt/size loss question. Don't feel bad, lots of folks don't make a stop in the introductions, hello again!

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your mother, it is very sad. I lost mine at around the same age due to complications from type2 diabetes, which eventually led to stroke, coma and brain-stem damage. I'm trying to avoid that path. Glad you're here, although we need doctors for certain medical emergencies, I think that the less we see them, the healthier we are.

Hi Ruth, welcome. The problem with warfarin (coumadin) is that if you need it, you need it. There are POSSIBLE alternatives in the forms of nattokinase (empty stomach). I see you are from the UK, if you like Indian food, hot peppers keep the blood thin, but you have to eat them daily (and fair amounts).
