Default Sex Drive!

I don't have one

why I hear you ask!!!

I put it down to the operations I have had, which started in 2004 with the removal of my large colon, and the second operatio followed 6 weeks later when they reversed my colostomy. Again in 2006 I had a desmoid tumor removed from my abdomen. So this area has been invaded by the surgeons knife six times, and I was warned this may happen by the surgeon. I am 49, married to a very loving and understanding wife, she puts no pressure on me at all. Are their any homeopathic/herbal remedies which will help my sex drive return?

Namaste,

Rev

I dont know... if all male equipement is intact I would say the cause is due to depeted energy. You might give Dr Schultz's Male Shot a try. search Dr Schultz, he sells herbal products. He has a CD about it that I have... its convincing but who knows? Maybe the CD is free. I think I got it when I ordered other stuff from him

the surgeon and my nurse told me I may suffer loss of erection due to the operation(the 2004 one). They prescribed viagra which works occasionally, but what worries me is the absence of wanting to make love, luckily my wife loves and understands the situation; but if I can surprise her then I'd be over the moon! So I'm off following your lead!!!

Namaste,

Try something called shou wu chih. Available at chinese/oriental stores for 5 bucks (at the most). Drink one ounce a day and give it a week to 10 days.

What is Maca?

Other names: Lepidium meyenii, Peruvian ginseng

Maca is a plant with a radish-like root that is used as a food and for medicinal purposes.

Although maca is unrelated to the ginseng family, it has been dubbed "Peruvian ginseng" because it is used as a folk remedy to increase stamina, energy, and sexual function.
Why Do People Use Maca?

According to folklore, ancient Incan warriors took maca before going off to battle to make them physically strong. However, they were later prohibited from taking it, in order to protect conquered women from their heightened libidos.

One study looked at the effect of 4 months treatment with maca tablets on semen quality in nine adult men. Treatment with maca resulted in increased seminal volume, sperm count, and sperm motility.

A 12-week randomized controlled trial looked at 1,500 mg maca, 3,000 mg maca, or placebo. After 8 weeks, there was an improvement in sexual desire in the men taking maca.

Maca does not appear to affect hormone levels. Serum testosterone and estradiol levels were not different in men treated with maca compared to those who took the placebo. Other studies have found no effect on luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, prolactin, and 17-alpha hydroxyprogesterone.
Safety

No side effects or hazards have been reported and are unknown.
Drug Interactions

No potential interactions have been reported.

I agree that Maca is a wonderful food for regulation of hormones and the increase of sex drive.

You can take a tablespoon a day in 4-6 oz water first thing in the morning. Maca powder is the way to go. Its cheaper and more effective than pills. NaturalZing is a good brand.

Also, avoid all processed soy products as they are estrogenic.

You can also try borojo supplements - in Colombia this fruit is known as a natural 'viagra' - men like to drink the the pulp of the juice in a shake, but as the fresh fruit is not available outside of Colombia and Panama, you can take take concentrated capsules - try Nutropical www.nutropical.com - I'm finding it has ery good results...!

is it possible they damaged the nerves that give you erections? like the pudendal nerve? i know they run right next you rectum/pelvis so if they accidentally cut or damaged these it could give you problems..

can you still get an erection? or is it JUST you dont feel like having sex? that could be hormonal, stress, sleep, diet, emotional etc.

Definitely get your testosterone levels checked. It's just routine blood test your physician can order with no problem and it could open more dialog between you & your Doc.

Hypogonadism can cause all of the symptoms you listed, so it would be beneficial to you to discuss this with your doctor EVEN IF you already have. The reason being, what he might consider normal levels may not be your normal level. The varying ranges of what labs consider normal are values ranging from the low 200s to over 1200 ng./dl. So say your levels were checked & they're at 300, and your physician feels 250 is 'normal', he's not going to mention anything unless you bring up the topic again. That would cause the physical problems you've been experiencing if your actual normal range is in the 500s.

I've read repeatedly over the last couple of years that optimally, the ranges should be 500 to 1000 ng./dl. of total testosterone for men. If anything else, I would start there to begin the process of elimination to rule it out. And if you don't like needles, there's other options to the weekly intramuscular injection. There's patches or by gel as well.
