Some information about the herb Pygeum and its use for prostate health.

It can reduce swelling and inflammation of the prostate. The mode of functon of Pygeum, is that it blocks the entry and breakdown of cholesterol in the prostate, this tends to encourage the production of certain prostaglandins, which creates an anti-inflammatory action.

It's known to help a congested, enlarged and inflamed prostate accompanied by diminished urine flow and increase frequency of urination. In some cases of prostatitis, this herb can be beneficial, but adequate use of Pygeum for at least a couple of months before evaluation is recommended. As with many herbs, results are very individual.
