Default Salt Vs Sodium Chloride

Does Sodium Chloride have more iodine in it than real unrefined salt?

Did people used to get goiters (idodine deficiences) due to rock salt being very poor in iodine?

Iodine is currently added to processed table salt so one receives about 0.05mg a day if they use it. It is generally a sufficient dosage to to keep goiter away, but it is not enough to keep hypothyroidism away, nor fibrocystic breast disease, or breast cancer for woman, nor the detox of bromide and flouride from master glands that is required for good health and longevity.

According to studies in the Japanese population the daily intake for many Japanese is about 12.5mg a day. This population has significantly lower breast cancer and thyroid issues than Americans do. When Japanese adopt an American diet their rates go up to the the American level.

Regular unprocessed salt will vary in its amount of iodine depending on where it is sourced from. Unprocessed salt will have a variety of minerals that processed salt does not have.

You mentioned in a previous post that Redmond salt has sand in it. I would not be concerned about that. It will just pass right through the digestive tract. But Redmond salt does have bromide in it which is making me look for another product. Celtic Sea Salt looks good as well as Himalayan.

Soil depletion of iodine is one of the leading causes of iodine deficiency in the USA country with certain parts of the nation also being just naturally deficient. Over time studies on agricultural soils that are not organically fortified have showed decreasing levels of iodine as well as in the foods they produce... this is true for a number of other trace minerals as well.

great post, Arrowwind....thank you for the info.

I'll be looking for that pink or black salt. Its hard to find. Target had the redmond salt, but now that you told me about this bromide.....I think i want to switch....I wanted to switch anyway, because of the sand...my wife complains about the sand.

Maybe vitamin shoppe has some pink or black salt.

I just found about this site, saltworks.us sells Himalayan Pink Salt in bulk, a 5lb. bag is only $19.

But I heard Gary Null on a recent program say that even this type of salt is not healthy, he says while it is better than the more common highly processed fare since it still has minerals and nutrients, but it still causes the same problem as any other salt. I assume he was talking about it causing the same problems with blood pressure and leaching out potassium. He advocates instead to combine an equal parts lemon juice with lime juice as a substitute. But I have not tried that yet, too lazy, lol.
