Green Powder recommendation?
Can anyone recomend a good quality green powder that I can add to my juices. I am going on a juice fast and I have read about adding these green powders to juices, but there are so many, and I'm not really sure what I should be looking for.

Gary Null's Green Stuff is good. This Youtube video shows how it is made:

If you are gonna make fresh juices from fruits or greens, I would save such powder for later in the day or another day, unless you have alot of money to spend.

Most Superstores carry a product called Greens+ and is a very good product. Its quite expensive but you only use one scoop per day.
It contains several ingredients, including organic barley, alfalfa, wheat grass, beet powders, spirulina, chlorella, resveratrol, milk thistle, non-dairy probiotics, acerola berry extract, siberian ginseng, Atlantic dulse powder, ginkgo biloba, green tea extract, bilberry extract, licorice root extract, bee pollen powder, royal jelly, grape extract, and apple fibre powder.
Greens + is one of the green powders that I personally use, and would recommend it to anyone. It increases energy and well-being.

Sounds like good stuff pinball, and at superstore no less. I'll have to check it out.
Thrasymachus, you figure there is no need for a green powder if I am doing my own veggie juicing?

pbd, does it have sugar or sugar substitutes in it..... My issue, is that I keep finding sugar or sugar substitutes in everything I want to buy.... I would love to find a good green drink and a good whey protein powder that doesnt have the added sugar and substitutes

I'm looking for a whey protein powder with no added sugar/substitutes as well.
Chuck (over at PAH) commented that Mercola sells a clean whey powder without sugar/substitutes but said it is expensive.
I don't get that...wouldn't it be cheaper not to have to add it, so why is it more?!

I like Antioxidant Natural Greens from Tropical Traditions though it's expensive and has Stevia. I'm with justme on everything always adding sugar substitutes, but Stevia at least seems like a better one. (There's always the greens powder made by Healthy Living with no sugar substitutes but it tastes like broccoli! Eww.)
I love New Chapter's products, who makes berrygreen but I didn't like the fact that they don't have spirulina or chlorella or any of those types of 'greens', just vegetables. Tropical Traditions brand has a lot of things in it but then again sometimes when a product has too many ingredients the amounts of each are too small.
As for whey, I think Dr. Mercola's is good. I like his and Metagenics Biopure Protein. Just make sure you get one that uses organic milk from grass-fed cows and is processed with low heat to preserve the whey protein and bioactive immunoglobulins. You'll have to spend some money for a good quality product. I've had the best success with Immunocal but that's very expensive.

For whey you can't beat Jarrow. Its very good quality and I read a number of studies on it quite a while ago
For greens I like Greens 8000 its organic and it comes in regular greens and berry greens which is my favorite for flavor. You can get both at www.Iherb.com enter coupon code bar967 for $5 off on your first purchase.

Greens + uses stevia, which is a natural sweetener.
There are no artificial sweeteners in this product.

Should I be using one of these if I am not eating meat for a long period?

It's still a sweetener, though, and some people are sensitive even to stevia. I am, it has the same effect on me as sugar, though much less. I can only take stevia at night.
And another issue with sweeteners is that it shows that we have a problem with eating foods without a sweetener. We're addicted to sugar or programmed that everything must be sweet. There are other wonderful flavors in nature (well, that is, except for Healthy Living greens powder that tastes like concentrated broccoli and brussels sprouts, bleh! )

Full amino acid profile and easily digestible so it is a good source of protein, improves muscle growth and bone density, helps with detox and immune system support by increasing gluthathione, they body's master antioxidant.

I dont like the taste of stevia... or any of them for that matter, I would rather deal with the nasty green food taste then to have the aftertaste of the stevia... yuck!!!
