It looks like they had the same show on TV this afternoon, which was nice, never anything on TV early Saturday afternoon, and maybe more Moms and kids got to see it!

They showed the kids cooking together as a team in the kitchen, and then serving the food to guests, including the Senator. Moving in the right direction regarding health is always good, and refreshing to see.

Thumbs down Parents are the problem

Just caught a bit of the show tonight. They showed how the kid's parents were packing junk foods like soda and chips in their lunchbags, despite the efforts the shool kitchen had made to serve healthier foods.

I think that's really a shame. I'd take advantage of the fact that my child had the opportunity to eat better, especially if he/she was over-weight.

Yeah, in too many cases, the parents ARE the problem, Kind2C.
However, later in the show, Jamie and lunchroom ladies from original
school, held an outdoor Boot Camp, where teachers/principals, parents
and students, all came together to discuss the lunch bag problems as well
as other topics. One topic was about the schools still having too much crappy/junk foods stored in the school's freezers - from/approved by the
FDA no less, that still had to be used/not wasted. The lunchroom head
honcho wanted to serve these on Fridays.
The teachers/principals, students, lunchroom staff, esp. "difficult Alice"
all said NO. Parents of the original 2 schools said NO also.
So Fridays would remain serving healthy foods, and Jamie asked all
parents who sent their kids with bagged lunches, to please put in healthy
foods, not junk.

Military say 18 year olds to fat to fight, want legislation on school dinners.
Looks like Jamie will be up for a Medal of Honor shortly if his training in schools works.

Well, get/being too fat to serve in the military is certainly one way to
not have to go to Afghanistan/Iraq!
Actually, ya know, eating right and being health/weight conscious really
begins in the home and what's fixed for them. My 22 yr old grandson and
19 yr old granddaughter [siblings] are super slim. My daughter serves
mostly salads, rarely fried foods, lots of veggies and always has fresh fruit
available. My son-in-law too is a good weight. The whole family has always
been very active and sports conscious.
The only thing I hate is that the 2 kids do/still drink sodas.
I was able finally to convince them that the Aspertame sweeteners were
bad for them - thank God.

They have now found that men who drink soda have a lower sperm count. Asapartame could be partly to blame but theres a lot more gunk in soda that could also be causing it.
