ABC's new show-Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Adventure
Did anyone else see ABC's new show - Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution -
last night - 10pm EDT? He's trying to convince the residents of a West
Virginia town, known as the most obese/unhealthiest town in USA, to
change their eating/buying habits. Last night's program showed what the
school kids are fed for their breakfasts and lunches at just one elementary
school. What the kids now get/eat is hugely carbs and processed stuff,
Everything fried/breaded, no salads, potato pearls/goop, etc. No fresh
veggies and most kids seemed to throw any fruit away.
He wasn't having much success in changing kids eating habits, but in
speaking and working with some individual grossly overweight families, he
had a bit more luck. I really enjoyed the program and wish Jamie lots of
luck - he's gonna need it. I think it's going to be on Sunday evenings, for
how long I don't know.

I didn't get to see it, but I saw the previews and it looked interesting! I'm sure those kids grew up from babies eating all that junk food, and don't know any different.

There is nothing more disheartening than people who choose to live in ignorance unless it's people whose ignorance or refusal to see the truth leads to the illnesses and early death of their own children.
Jamie Oliver's new show is going to be on Friday nights, not Sundays as I
stated earlier. I'm not sure of the time. Let's hope the public tunes in to
his show and pays attention to what he's trying to teach us.
Pass the word to your friends and families.

Oprah is going to have Jamie Oliver on her show this Friday - ABC at 4 pm
EDT. Oprah has a huge following so this should help and hopefully be a plus
for his Friday evening show.

I can't figure out those Americans who kill their children with rubbish food. The States has some really delicious nutritious 'ethnic' food, so why aren't they bothered to cook it. Eating rubish food just makes them dumber and dumber. Yours, the antiagingboomer.com
My only complaint with last night's first full 2 hour show, was that there was
alot of repetition.
To reply to your statement/question, hwenley, I think it's no.1 mostly ignorance
of the importance of real food, no.2 laziness and possibly lack of time to prepare
decent meals from scratch, and no.3 possibly the cost of fresh produce - a variety
of veggies and fruits. I'm sure that others can think of a few more reasons.
Anyway, hopefully the program will be a success, as well as Jamie's project in the
West Va.'s schools and community. It looked like he is succeeding with the Edwards
family in changing their cooking/eating habits.
I did enjoy the program and will continue to watch it.

EarlyBird, I saw him on Oprah, and I started to watch the show, but didn't make it to the end. It was very repetative and too slow moving to keep my interest. At 8PM, I look forward to Kitchen Nightmares...more active!
It was disturbing to see that they served those kids pizza for breakfast in the school, and then chicken nuggets (frozen) for lunch. The next day, pizza for lunch? That's just NOT right! Shame on the parents and school administration for allowing such a poor diet! No wonder there's so many kids with problems nowadays!

Click on "Jamie's School Lunches" below to see how he got things started in the UK!
And his success! Great story!
According to the program, Jamie has 2 more weeks at the WVa. elementary school
to impliment his lunch food plan. His biggest problem I think will be to get the costs
down and continue to win over the lunchroom ladies. Fresh produce does cost more.
Anyway, I still look forward to seeing his show as well as what progress the Edwards
family makes.

The sad part is ethnic is the best food in the states. Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Greek. All amazing stuff, yet people want McDonalds and Subway.
Second Jamie Oliver Show - Grade School lunches seem to be working out
for the kid's acceptance of it. Costs still too high tho.
Last night Jamie moved on to the local High School where french fried
potatoes and pizzas are the favorites.
Any comments?
