\nLugol\'s iodine is the answer. apply it topically twice a day. You can also add a touch of DMSO to add penetrating power but it was not necessary on the cysts we did, but yours is much larger. Taking it orally will also help as that is how I eliminated thyroid cysts. I did not do topical for those.

This particular kind of cyst, according to the experts, is because during the embryonic growth slits (they like to call them gills and there are five on each side) are covered one by one as skin grows over and fills them in. Occasionally, there will be a place where the skin did not fill in. So, in some cases later in life (my wife is in her fifties) it becomes fluid filled and begins to grow. I read someplace that it might be associated with menopause.

\nI can across this board searching for an answer as I have a branchial cyst that has flarred up again. 2 years ago I was on Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs for this with success and a cooling anti inflamatory diet which was successful. After 6 months of going off diet and herbs it returned to the size of a chicken egg. I have been using Neem, Marshmallow and Fever few which keeps it undercontrol but not gone. I have difficulty with the diet as I love spices and lots of meat which all cause heat and inflamation in the body. I was searching for a different herbal product on the internet first before going back to my Ayurvedic physican. In years past it would flare up after dental work and my mainstream primary would simply drain it, but he has since retired and I cannot find a doctor who is willing to drain so that is why i sought a natural alternative. I know what your wife is going through. I wear a bandana or scarves. The fever few really helps with any pain that sometimes occurs. I will double the dose on the Fever few which helps. I also get the Fever Few and Marshmallow at Wegmans. Neem they sometimes have or will special order, but usually I get the Neem from iherb.com Anyway, if I find anything that would help permanently or even a little I will post. \n I think what happened was that after the antibiotic did not work and I began with the decoction, it was actually whatever was left of the antibiotic that worked with the decoction to make it shrink. Then after a few weeks it began to grow again.
\n I\'m using Nature\'s Sunshine products but I\'ll tell you what I\'m doing and you can use what you will. She takes Cat\'s Claw (Una de Gato) for that deep down antibiotic action, chickweed, oregon grape (liquid form) and Silver Shield (which is a colloidal silver). It has stayed fairly small since we began using it but I have no idea if we\'ll be able to get rid of it or if it will grow again once we stop the herbs and formulas. I imagine we will probably have to resort back to the treatment from time to time until we find a better way.
\n Hers does not hurt and causes no discomfort except when it was swollen at which time it was painful, and causing headaches, etc. She says she can easily live with it as it is so long as it does not enlarge again.

Chick weed and Oregon Grape is new to me. But, after reading up on it they sound like potent cooling anti inflammatories which I am willing to add in. I have also started the other day letting one capsule each dissolve under my tongue, then I swallow the rest. Herbs get into the system with more potential than through the digestive tract. The saliva dissolves the herbs into a paste and I hold it there for 1-2 minutes before swallowing. It takes a couple of times to get used to as the Neem (cooling anti inflammatory and anti biotic) is very bitter. I have tried massage, I seem to start clearing my throat when I do this. I did not know if this was causing it to drain or if it was from sinus. Does this happen to your wife also? I have read that there is lymph tissue that is apart of the branchial. Which could be part of the draining. The main stream medical field only offers surgery and I am not for doing that as it is very dangerous being next to the artery and facial nerves. It would be nice if I could find a physician who would just drain it with a syringe like my former physician used to.

\n I don\'t know how old you are but my wife is 58 and is post menopausal. I have read someplace, that hormonal change can initiate the flareup. That is what the chickweed is for. You may want to think in terms of hormonal imbalance even if you are younger.

\n I have also read that lymph is related to the cyst and I know that lymph can be moved so, even if it only helps a little that\'s a big step. Your feelings about surgery reflect ours exactly. \nThe info has been very interesting for me. I\'m 43 but I had my first flare up when I was 28 the next day after dental work on that side the branchial swells. What you both said has triggered my memory about hormones and iodine. I used to buy progesterone creme from GNC when I was under the Ayurvedic care 2 years ago and had often thought it was helping. The iodine my husband reminds me to use as well. I just a put a dab on my wrists and the iodine seems to be disappearing quickly. I was also on a superior women\'s vitamin called Eve Womens Mulitple at evitamins. com which had iodine in it. This vitamin seemed to assist in the situation better than the over counters.
\nI did notice this morning when I woke up it felt like the cyst had gotten skinnier, still long, but not as fat. I know when it starts to fill up because there is some discomfort. \nFor years I have assumed it was swollen lymph glands, and as a child, had numerous blood tests for glandular fever. All of which were negative.

\nI did some researching (herbal sources) regarding cysts in general, fibroid cysts, etc. I realized I was missing some things in my system. I started using vitamin E will dissolve cysts (double dose of what is suggested on bottle 3x a day bought at Dollar General) Flaxseed Omega 3 (at Dollar General) I\'m leary about fish oil omega 3 because of mercury in fish so that is why I chose Flaxseed. B6 (Dollar General) or the B Complex with all the B\'s (at Dollar General)helps process estrogen which could be over loading my body and a synthetic estrogen is used in dairy in the store, so I switched to Soy milk Vanilla flavor by Silk (grocery store) too much estrogen will cause cysts , Feverfew reduces inflamation or pain, Echinecea (Dollar General), Nettle is a mucus decongestant, Mucinex (drug decongestant at grocery store or Wegmans) Progesterone creme without wild yam in it. I also switched to pure cane sugar bought at Wegmans and a low salt as I could be allegeric to Iodine. Vanilla Yogurt as another antibiotic

\r\n \r\n Yes switching to everything decaf will help. Try to cut back on caffine to 90% if not altogether. It is in coffee, pops, some teas, and chocolate. The other problem with caffine is it depletes vitamins and minerals in your body that you just consumed from a healthy meal and supplements. So it\'s like taking 1 step forward with the healthy food, but 2 steps backwards because of the caffine depleting your system. If your drinking alot of coffee to keep energized take the B12 along with the B6 instead. B12 will give you energy. I wanted to mention that Dollar General now sells the Vitamin E in 1000 mg dosages so you don\'t have to double the dose the way I was with the 400 mg. You mentioned bacon is where you notice a flare up it could be from the high salt content which makes people retain fluid, and you might be allergic to the Iodine. You can switch to Raw Sea Salt,not the refined Sea Salt which you can also buy at Wegmans. I found using deli meats (low sodium ham etc.) are great for a quick lunch and great to fry up with organic eggs "ham and eggs"
\nI was a big salt eater and craved bacon also, but since I stopped eating bacon and cut back on salt to 90% i don\'t have these strange cravings anymore. I use to also crave chocolate. I think it is due to the flushing of system through the water. \r\n \r\n Yes, mine is in my neck. Always had problems with it but docs have always said it was my glands. Have only recently been correctly diagnosed.
\nPersonally I would avoid surgery. After having done some research and found that this is not always successful.

\r\n \r\n I was diagnosed about 8 yrs ago with a cyst. I had it for about 8 months, went to the doctors, he wanted to do surgery with the risk of facial nerve damage. I refused surgery. Through prayer it went away. It came back a couple of years ago, It went away after a couple of months. It came back this past November, I took the advice of taking apple cider vinegar everyday. I drink a tablespoon in a glass of water a couple times a day, it is almost gone. It has to be raw organic. I bought Braggs Organic ACV at Wegmans for a 32 ounce bottle it is around $5. Also I put organic flaxseed oil on it topically. Also, I believe in the power of prayer. Hope this is helpful.\r\n

\nI was diagnosed with the same thing, Branchial Cleft Cyst in my neck, right side, back in early 2008. I tried all kinds of solutions but none ever really brought it completely down. Some things mentioned in the original post did work in bringing it down somewhat but never all the way.
\nI ended up getting the surgery back in August 2008. I was pretty scared I\'ll say, I had never before had any kind of surgery, much less neck surgery. In the end though, it all worked out ok and except for a faint scar running about 4 inches in length on my neck, you would never know about it.

\nSo, while I don\'t really know of any natural medicines that will "cure" it, if anyone is scared about the surgery, they can take it from me that the thought of the surgery was much scarier than the actual procedure. In fact, I had the surgery done on a Thursday morning and the next day I was out driving and doing my normal thing. The surgery itself was about 2 hours.\r\n

\nI am 26 and was recently \'diagnosed\' with a branchial cleft cyst, on my left side. The \'lump\' as I call it showed up just under 2 months ago, after I went off of a vegan/raw food cleanse.

\nFor several weeks I had a few different hypotheses as to what caused this lump. After I ruled out dental work and infection, I finally went in to have a CT scan as I was quite worried. Results were that it was a BCC. Like others, I am looking for an alternative to the quite invasive and risky surgery.

\nPart of me believes that going back on the cleanse will help but I have yet to try that. Since I have gone off the cleanse (and consequently noticed the lump) I have been sluggish, depressed, anxious. I am considering the flare up in relation to a possible food allergy. I have never been allergy tested.

\nWhat\'s strange is that I saw a psychic on the same day that I went off the cleanse and she told me that I was \'draining\'. At that time I had not noticed the lump or felt sluggish at all.

\nTry Apple cider vinegar and castor oil. Mine has shrinked a lot. Also try to drink warm teas during the day, such as echinacea. The only thing that bothers me is the biopsi shows some "mild squamous atypia".
\nDid you make a biopsi? Doctor 3 months ago said nothing bad but may be he thought i would go thru the surgery.

\nSorry not replying earlier. Try to drink a little bit of ACV during the day, and apply topically castor oil in the evening. If you can massage the cyst it will help too. The best will be during the shower .... People also prefer puting castor oil packs on the cyst and a warm bottle on top of the pad. Try to keep it for 60 minutes.
\nAlso teas are good. I\'m so afraid to have capsules , who knows what side effects will have.\r\n
