boys where do I begin...my 12yr old 130pd lab mix seems to be having asthma attacks...the minute he gets excited he starts the panting ...the other day I gave him 10mg of loratadine (claritin) am and pm ..the next day he threw up mucus for 24hours couldn't keep anything down so I stopped the loratadine...I've been also giving him 7drops 3x day for some time of a 5% sodium chlorite solution unactivated (nzymes ox-e-drops) now this morning he was able to keep some hamberger down ..now he's got a swollen lump on his cheek ...I have here 28% MMS with a bottle of 50% citric acid but just don't know or understand how to use it ..I don't like the activated stuff..I myselft tried the 3 drops activated and it taste so darn bad and they suggest 3 drops per 25lbs for pets ..i just don't get it??

Hi rude, welcome! It sounds like your dog is older, and may be overweight, which would cause heavy or strained breathing when excited. Has the weather been very hot where you live? Dogs are definitely affected by warm, sunny days. He may also be dehydrated, is he drinking plenty of fresh water everyday?
I've heard of some people giving their dogs Benedryl for seasonal allergies, but I've never done it, and not sure if it's a good idea.

Take him to the vet . As old as he is,I wouldn't play around and try to self medicate.
he's a big dog..he's far from being over weight..he looks like a great dane right now.... I've taken him to the vets who has no x-rays ..gave me a strong antibiotic (amoxilan?) and prednisone and he didn't do nothing for him...I've called a animal hospital out of town and they tell me from his symptoms it's an enlarged heart and with meds they could prolonge his life but I've told my husband this morning to call the vet to have him put down..what kind of life is it when you can't do 20 steps without begging for oxygen

I pictured in my mind a dog the size of an average lab, that why I thought he might be overweight. I wish I had some good suggestions for you, but if he does have an enlarged heart at his age and size, I doubt that anything would work a miracle. Very sorry that you're considering putting him down, it's a difficult decision, but if the dog is suffering it's the loving thing to do.
My dog used to have demodex mange, so I've given my dog Benedryl and it works well for allergies. I would just never use something like this long-term
What kind of food are you feeding your dog? Most people think their dogs aren't over weight, when they are. You should at least be able to feel your dogs ribs with your hands, if you can't, then he's probably over weight.
