Thanks k2c. Appreciate your suggestions.

I applied Virgin Coconut Oil before retiring to bed, but(!!!) when I awoke my butt was red and stinging, so I'll refrain from using VCO for this area!!!

I am testing food grade bicarb and can report that it is helping and reducing the redness and also stopped the stinging! Further updates to follow.
