\r\n \r\n kendrin, I don\'t think people are out to create our bad health on purpose but I do believe that profit and convenience for the manufacturer is more important than long term safely of the customer. Buyer beware is my motto. We have to be our own health advocates and go back to nature because our culture has leaned towards chemicals for too long and our health is being affected.\r\n

\nI doubt it\'s a conspiracy theory though. I think most health professionals are like everyone else and for the most part if you offer most people enough money, enough freebies, and a comfortable way of life they will go along with what you say so long as it appears to be done for the right motives.
\nThe ideas behind vaccination, fluoridation, statins, cancer screening, arterycloggingsaturatedfats all sound plausible and doctors want them to be true and can explain lots of reasons why they may work. The fact that that in real life they do more harm than good is hard to comprehend, particularly when doing so means going against the consensus of current medical opinion.
\nThere are signs that the statin scam is coming to an end, people are beginning to understand why cancer screening is not living up to expectations but while it\'s easy to regard "conspiracy theory" as an underlying reason for the current disconnect between current medical practice and the latest science I\'m afraid to say it\'s more ignorance, lazyness and greed that\'s behind it, it\'s would in fact be better if we believed health professionals were sufficiently intelligent to organize a conspiracy and keep it going, unfortunately I think the truth is they aren\'t smart enough to see how they are being manipulated by money and greed.

\n It sounds fine in theory but in practice the two organizations doctors must report their concerns to are the GMC or CQC, the GMC are almost certainly going to be sued for their role in the conspiracy to construct charges of fraud against Andrew Wakefield and the CQC are themselves maintaining gagging orders on doctors who want to go public on their role in covering up bad practice.
\n You cannot have a situation where those who have a vested financial interest in the outcome are in charge of policing the issues.
\nIn the same way we trusted bankers too much we do the same with doctors.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Personally I would go with the conspiracy theory. There really is a bunch of truly evil people that are only interested in their personal gain and the elimination of those of us that they call useless eaters, or about 80% of the population.

\n As far as the doctors that prescribe these questionable drugs and procedures I would not too quick to condemn them. I have no doubt that many of them feel that what they�re doing is the very best for the patient because going through medical school they are taught that this and only this is the very best that is available. Also to deviate from what they have been taught could cost them their license or even a law suit. Thus there is no incentive to look at alternatives that they have already been told �don�t work�.\r\n

\n Using fluoride topically on teeth for protection is questionable at best, however, for the industry to say fluoride in water protects teeth is a total scam. The fluoride would have to go to the stomach, then to the blood stream, then somehow back up to the teeth..

\nTo put this in perspective, that would be like drinking shampoo to wash your hair.

I can see where that conspiracy theory of using flouride to keep the public stupid came from, although I think it\'s more ignorance and incompetence that is the reason so much of the drinking water in the US is fluoridated. I just wish our legislators would grow up, get educated, and do something for the public good without payola being involved. It\'s way, way, past time that we, like other advanced countries, said goodbye to fluoridated water. It\'s as about as primitive and wrong of an idea as bleeding patients to cure fevers.\r\n

The more I read the threads in the dentistry section, the more it seems the things they are putting in our toothpaste is possibly toxic and actually hurting our teeth. It seems I am finding this in all places of cosmetics and personal care.
Could somebody explain to me why they think this is?? Is it really that the industries want to profit off our bad health? That just seems so... terrible.
