HFCS and most sugar additives are leading to all kinds of problems. That and the overuse of antibiotics leading to an overabundance of candida in our stomachs as good bacteria are destroyed, leading to leaky gut syndrome and all kinds of other problems such as allergies and there have even been links to autism. But dieting does work (at least I think so ... I\'ve lost 25 lbs. in the past 6 months and am still losing) .... one can\'t just stop eating or lower calorie count. One has to develop a lifestyle whereby calorie intake is lowered permanently, meals are healthier overall, and the regimen stays consistent. So much easier to put on weight than it is to take it off. I\'ll go a whole week eating healthy and lose a pound or two and then one day splurge and gain three pounds. It\'s crazy but the regimen must stay consistent and cheating can\'t happen much at all. A diet is something where you eat a certain way for a few weeks, lose a few pounds, and go back to abusing your body. What you describe is a shift to a healthy lifestyle. That is what really works. It very sound to eat healthy 6 days a week and go ahead and eat what you want on one day. You don\'t feel deprived and you get yourself healthy. Exercise is absolutely required if you want to be healthy. No exercise is a ticking time bomb. And I still hold firm that you have to avoid HFCS - it\'s in nearly every drink except for, I\'ve found, unsweet tea and the Simply brand Lemonade/Limeade, and of course bottled spring water. You can get used to drinking bottled water with your meals pretty quickly. Then you are actually tasting your meal.
