Default Butt Blues!

Hi All,

Brief intro to my condition! I have no large intestine due to bowel cancer, and my small intestine has been re-constructed to form what is called an Ileo Anal Pouch, mine is an S Pouch because it is shaped liked an S!

I go to the toilet as normal to empty my pouch, I go over 100 times a week! Some visits can take up to 5 hours! Good job I have a laptop! I also read a lot of books!

My problem is that I can get 'nappy rash' - or I prefer the term butt burn! I am 53 after all! My butt has been red and sore for two weeks, even after the consultant gave me steroid cream to help my poor butt! No improvement at all! And it stings!

I am unsure as to why this has happened because I've not eaten anything different to what I normally do. So I am now wanting to try something natural, and I am contemplating using Virgin Coconut Oil. I am also thinking of using cornstarch to powder the affected area. I'd appreciate any suggestions as I really want to get to the bottom(!!!) of this problem! I can't use anything which is perfumed as this will cause irritation to my skin!

Thanks folks!!!

Calendula cream, calendula tincture mixed with cocoa butter will help as an anti-inflammatory and repairs skin. Vitamin E topically will help also.

If you can get a cushion like this, that might help with comfort and irritation. https://www.drleonards.com/Support-Mo...IN_1000_107000

Thanks k2c. Appreciate your suggestions.

I applied Virgin Coconut Oil before retiring to bed, but(!!!) when I awoke my butt was red and stinging, so I'll refrain from using VCO for this area!!!

I am testing food grade bicarb and can report that it is helping and reducing the redness and also stopped the stinging! Further updates to follow.
