So its kind of embarrasing but ive had a recurring rash/flaky skin issue on the shaft of my penis ongoing for quite some time now.. maybe 9-10 months.. seems to have got a bit worse the past few months..

Basically its just a little redness and flaking of the top layer of skin.. I went to my dermatologist worried it could be some kind of STD or something and she told me it was simply Seborrheic Dermatitis or "dandruff"..

Ive never had this issue before.. its not a huge deal but its annoying and im single at the moment, its going to be akward to be with a girl and have to explain.. "umm this is not an std or anything its just an inflammatory condition" .. Yea... kind of a turn off lol.. so for that reason I would really like to get rid of it.

I tried putting coconut oil on there one time and it itched like CRAZY... i mean seriouuus itching so I never tried that again.. the reason I tried it is coconut oil is anti-fungal and soothing, but wow did it itch..

Could the intense itching have been a die off reaction of the yeast? OR simply an allergic reaction or something/irritation.

Apparently Seb Derm is caused by a common yeast thats on everyones skin, just for some people our bodies react to it in a bad way and it causes mild inflammation and flaking of the top layer of skin.

Does anyone have any cures? I believe ultimately things like thsi are rooted in digestion etc.. so im always working on that, but if there was a natural cream/oil I could put on every now and then that made it go away that would be awesome.

I think it's similar to babies and 'cradle cap'. It's possible to get some relief from just applying Mineral Oil to the skin. Other herbal possibilities for treatment either internally or topically in a cream form are Red Clover, Yellow Dock, Nettles or Goldenseal. There's some info on these in our health wiki.

I have seborrheic dermatitis around the nose for about 10 yearr. Now I am using Propolis. You can buy it on a drug store. The propolis from a drug store has a lot of alcohol in it and I wonder if that is whats helping. If you can find 100% propolis from someone who has bees that might be better, I never tried it buy I would, If I could find it. Anyways, this propolis worked better than any other cream I have ever used (hydrocortizone, nizoral, La Roche-Posay etc).
And I believe that the alcohol is what is helping because at the area that I have dermatitis the skin is oily and the alcohol is what dries it out. (or perhaps is the propolis itself, not sure)
I don't stop using it. I use it every day, at the beginning even 3-4 times a day. You will notice that it will dry the skin out. But don't worry about that at the beginning.
I wish this helps a lot of you because I have experimented a lot, to try to find something that works.

I have SD too. The back of my scalp seems to get it the worst, I often use steroid lotion there cos nothing else works. I get it on my face, behind my ears, inside my ears, chest, scrotum, groin. I've found Aloe Vera gel to be really soothing. I have Canestern hydrocortison but hardly use it, the aloe vera works well, better than e45 cream in my opinion. Just wish I could find something natural for my scalp, my shampoo's for sd have lots of alcohol in it and this just dries my scalp out more. I mostly use baby shampoo.
