"Chronic constipation affects 15 to 20 percent of the US population. Nearly one-third of affected people have dyssynergic defecation, in which muscles used for bowel movements do not work well, but there's some good news. University of Iowa research shows biofeedback treatment can successfully retrain muscles."
Or you can easily cure constipation in ONE MINUTE:
Just lay on the floor, pull your legs up (bend them) to your chest, grab your legs just under the knees and make bicycle riding motions, fast, each time coming up and thumping your stomach. You can do this without holding your legs, but holding your legs will help make sure you thump your stomach. You are stimulating those muscles used for bowel movements.
Do this every day for about one minute and you won't believe how regular you will become.
And exercise, as LD shows for constipation, also does. My bowel movements became regular (although I don't think I was aware that they were irregular) when, as an obese teen, I started doing leg raises and sit-ups.
But I still think that nothing beats the quickness of yogurt as a treatment for constipation. And paradoxically, yogurt treats both constipation and diarrhea, which are opposites.
If you go to your local pharmacy, you may be able to find a "magnesium citrate" solution (liquid). The active ingredient, in this preparation, is magnesium citrate (a natural mineral chelate). This often helps with constipation.
The good thing about such a remedy (as opposed to most laxatives) is that the magnesium doesn't stimulate your bowels. The way it works is that, when you take excess magnesium, it draws more liquid into your bowels thereby facilitating the easier passage of bowel movements.
If you have any trouble finding such a product, you can also order 100% pure magnesium citrate powder (or capsules) on the 'net.
Another option is to take large amounts of vitamin C. This would function in the same manner as the magnesium.
Also, please make sure that you're drinking enough healthy fluids, eating plenty of healthy fats and fiber and exercising regularly. These are the foundation of a good elimination schedule.
Besides yogurt, is there any other drink which helps ease constipation?
Raw or unfiltered, unpasteurized apple juice does the job. But not the clear, filtered stuff you buy on the store shelves. The pectin in it flushes you out and is good for your colon. Another thing to try is a colon cleanse. A few years ago my daughter who was 30, admitted to me that she had this problem since she was a kid. So I went online and bought her Jim's Colon Pills, and Colon Cleanse Pills. She took them as directed along with the Nature's Biotics and not only got cleaned out and regular, but she also lost 30 lbs, which was all the excess weight she had been carrying for a few years, without dieting. She was thrilled. Here's the link.
Have to agree about the Fibre, exerxise etc etc. Fibre intake only needs to be about 40-50g a day to my knowledge, and you could also potentially cut back on Red Meat a bit, if you're concerned about possible undigested Red Meat retention in the Bowels, as I believe Red Meat can do that, and not completely digest sometimes.
P.S. no offence intended to the above poster, but I'm not wholely convinced about those pills.
Espeially where it says it can Eliminate Chrons Disease. I'm 99% sure Chrons is Chronic and therefore has no cure. It flares up at certain intervals, with possible effects like Diarrhoea, Rectal Bleeding, Abdominal pain, Inflammation etc etc, and there is no specific food that supposedly causes it, even though things like Wheat are cautioned against for people experiencing it, or experiencing a flare up, as I don't think even Gluten has been identified as a definite primary trigger.
Also the cleanse seems to contain things like Senna and Prunes, both natural laxatives, which could be used seperately, same with Alfalfa, and also Red Clover to my understandng, has no proven possible side effects in the short-term, but evidence suggests a possibility in the long term, and Red contains the Genistein Ioflavone found in Soy if memory serves correct, although Genistein is genetically similar to Oestrogen, I don't think should have any direct bearing in women, on Intestinal actions or reactions to food, or fluctuations in Bacterial levels, although I'm not usre if there are any serious interactions in women, between excess Oestrogen and the Intestinal or Duodenal tracts.
Any other ingredients I don't know much about, and haven't heard of in some cases.
Like I say, not disrespect intended at all to the previous poster, just my opinion on the product.
The other thing I just thought of, is when they use terms like product A works best in conjunction with product B, but there is never any stated reasons, like certain ingredients in one product, boost the actions from others in the other product for example, so it looks like product A may work, product B may not, or vice versa, but by creating this A+B = "better" situation, you may possibly be creating a scam scenario, (not saying this always happens), designed to trick consumers out of money, as once you use both, you can't tell how they work individually, and if you use one or the other, you can't tell if combining would have worked better, so it's a catch 22.
Then the only judgement you might be able to trust is theirs, when they say A+B = better, and any benefit could be seen as a success for the A+B method, but the get out is, if you get poorer results than someone else who also combines, the company could say something like, "results differ depending on things like Body type, diet, water, exercise levels etc etc", leaving you with possibly inadequate results you've been made to believe are accaptable in YOUR case.
I'm not saying this product is a scam, or a load of hooey, but looking at some of the prices, and some of the contents, this product to me anyway, needs a big fat BUYER BEWARE tag for it.

Reason: Responding to an above post, not present initially.
You may be lacking magnesium and want to try mag citrate as Harry recommends. But I won't buy the liquid mag citrate sold in drug stores as it has aspartame in it, which we have had many discussions about on here for it being a neurotoxin. Instead I buy mag citrate in powder form from iherb.com. It just tastes like citric acid like vitamin C, only milder. You can easily stir it into juice and not taste it at all. Here's the link:
They do not say it cures Crohn's disease, it says it "helps eliminate" it. That is referring to their recommendations for taking it with a good probiotic, and proper diet, which does cure crohn's disease. None of the ingredients are harmful. Sorry to dissappoint you but there is no scam involved. My husband is also using it now, and is already losing unwanted weight without dieting, after only one week.
I agree, with shapshftr, that getting the purest magnesium citrate product would be best. I can also confirm that the NOW Foods brand magnesium citrate powder doesn't taste bad ... not delicious but certainly tolerable, IMO.
If taste is an issue, go with the capsules. The important thing is to ingest a large enough quantity to produce the desired result. That can be accomplished with either a powder or capsules.

Well I certainly can't nay won't disagree, with your explanation of what you and your husband have managed to achieve, as I'm in no position to do that.
You're explanation of Cure over Elimination is something I considered just now, and totally respect, although there is case in point like I did, that some people could believe elimination is practically, if not the same thing as cure. Not saying that's deliberately misleading, or the site owners are making something implausible seem plausible, but my conclusions could potentially be reached by other people, but of your explanation of Cure versus Elimination is something I can totally and will respect.
As I said earlier, I wasn't waving a big Scam banner as such, just making a point that some things like that, can have such potential, I also illucidated that not all cases of such products are automatically so, nor did I say that one definitely is, so I'm quite willing to accept those products may well have benefit for the majority, as I never dismissed any possible benefits as a false prophecy, so I'm certainly not dissapointed by anything you said .
I'm glad you did post again, and I thank you for your honest and considered feedback. I'm very open to other peoples interpretations, and / or experiences in such things most of the time, and any benefit you and your husband have gained from this, is clearly a good thing, and I wish you and he well, continuing to improve the way you physically feel, and how you want to live.
The main thing here is you both recognised some need to change, and you've stuck with it, and are getting results, and the important thing here, is that you both trust in the ways you are doing that, so you should be proud of each other, and I can certainly commend and respect both of you for your actions, and wish you and he well trying to make any new lifestyle changes work for you .
I can't say what you said has completely changed my perspective, about all such products of that type, but it gave me something to think about, and that essentially is one of benefits of sites like this, that members can exchange ideas or thoughts in this way, without accusng each other of talking nonsense, insulting each other, or shouting B.S.
So again thanks for your frank and open response, and best wishes to you and your husband, in your attempts to change aspects of your life
