Hang gas soaked clothes outside to let the gas evaporate, then wash to try and get rid of the smell.

I just use the 3% solution that you commonly get at any store. I splash about 1/2 cup or so in while my washer is filling up, but I've frequently read about folks using a cup.

I have bought from lehmans before, and really enjoy their catalog, so i added them onto my facebook page..... they had this blog posted today, advertising their laundry soap kit. Thought ya'll might be interested! But i wonder, what would happen if we substituted a gallon of vinegar for a gallon of the water... supposedly vinegar is a softener... would it work that way?

I think that bucket is terribly awkard. I have two one gallon jugs with cap I store mine in. And it does need to be shaken before almost every use.

I wonder how much they get for that set up? probably better off collecting stuff up on your own.

Is the home made soap gentle enough for delicates and dark colours? Seem like it would eat right through a black blouse, for example?

Marilyn, I would say it is probably safe for most anything...I have seen no damage to any of my clothes so far.

Twenty bucks at the most to do it on your own if you had to buy all the dodads.... so their program makes your soap cost 2.5 times more... but still cheap... I guess Im the ultimate cheapskate

So Arrow, I have been using this laundry soap nonstop for about four months now... My daughter in law loves it, and so does my son and daughter when she is home. We are using essential oils...This time we used orange.. I love the smell... During the summer, Im going to stick with the eucalyptus, because it seemed like we didnt get that spoiled smell if we accidently forgot to put the clothes in the dryer the night before, but I need to experiment on that some more.
A few months ago, a saleslady from a septic tank additive co. called me trying to sell me more additive, we got to talking, and she said something about the detergents clogging our septic tanks... when I told her I didnt use regular store bought detergent, that I made my own....she questioned what was in it and when I told her, she said that I didnt need their product if I was using that, because nothing in that would hurt my system.....more money saved...
But the cheapskate in me wants to go a step further...I dont pay for water yet, but they are talking about annexing us and are trying to figure out how they can make us pay for it....So, Im wondering how I can recycle my rinse water to reuse as my wash water for the next load... Told the daughter in law that I wanted to experiment next month and just take over doing the laundry... so that I can see how much money we can save.... I would have to pay attention to the washer....allow the wash water to drain into the line, and then as it started filling up, transfer the drain to a large garbage can....so the rinse water can go into the garbage can...then if I put my portable sump pump thing into the rinse water cont, I can just plug that in to put the water back into the washer machine....while yea it seems like a bit more work, I wonder how much money you could save.... How many gallons of water does a washer machine go through?
Also, how would I find out if the wash water with our detergent would be safe to water the lawn or fruit trees with....was thinking about seeing if I could just transfer that water out to the fruit trees.... Would that be safe, or would I have to have it go thru some sort of filtration system? Does anyone have any idea?
Im loving the detergent though....Going to try and see how it works on dishes.. my only issue is that I love my suds when I do my dishes!
