Default Vitamin strengths are important.

So many people give up taking vitamins because they feel that they don't work.....when asked what strength they take, there is probably more nourishment in the cardboard box they are bought in!!!

Bearing in mind we cannot get optimum doses from vegetables and fruit these days.....there are Vitamin C deficiencies in oranges and Vitamin A deficiencies in Carrots, becasue of spraying and storage and pollution.........so we have to take supplements to balance our health.

All sikness is an inbalance....balance the deficiency and we are healthy again.

Just a tip to buy good doses of vitamins....the RDA is nowhere near strong enough.

Sad that we have to take supplements, but that seems to be what good health is all about these days.....and knowledge is precious!

You're absolutely right. The FDA keeps the 'recommended' does below whats needed because, sad as, it is their livelihood depends on sick people.
As you know, I take a gazillion supplements a day to maintain my health. I skipped a couple of days a few weeks ago. Its AMAZING what it did to me. I take Synthroid because I had a total thyroidectomy 1 1/2 yrs. ago. It took them 7 different tries to get the dose right. Part of the reason being I kept adjusting the doses on my supplements as I was curing the cancer. Well, skipping those days a few weeks ago was not smart!! It thru my system off enough where I apparently needed more Synthroid then normal because my body wasn;t being fed the usual stuff....and I gained 6 pounds that week! Your thyroid controls your metabolism...so I guess I didn't have one that week! Amazing how fast I reacted to that shortage.

A very good point. I have found so many people taking their $2.99 bottle of multivitamins from wallmart and wondering why they don't feel anything. I have read some studies that most cheaply made vitamins contain petroleum products. You are absolutely right... The cardboard most likely has more nutritional benefit.

My medicine chest is FILLED with various vitamins, supplements and herbs...but the good part is there's no prescription drugs in there! Would be nice though to find a multi that had everything in proper forms and doses, guess it would be a foot long, LOL!

I think to truly get everything in the proper forms and dosage you have to get it from the food you eat. I'm working on an article about this specifically but the short version is that to get the best possible nutrients you have to get them from living food.

The RDA of Vitamin D3 is a joke. I tell people they need to be aiming for 5000 iu per day and they continue to babble on about the RDA of 400 iu on multi vits for the prevention of Rickets. In today's society its not really Rickets we need to worry about, its CANCER!

Just take a look at this incidence prevention graph:
https://www.grassrootshealth.org/_dow...art_101608.pdf

Notice how the increase in serum 25(OH)D effects disease incidence! You arent liable to get anywhere near optimum 25(OH)D levels on a paltry 400 iu per day as RDA on multi vits.
