What brands of Vit D3 are you all taking? And from whom do you buy it?
Do you think taking it in liquid form or tablet form is better? I'm going to need to reorder some Vit D3 soon and would appreciate knowing.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link Liverock. I would say the quote from the article, below, sums it up pretty well...it's high LDH that suggests kidney and other problems. Mine is low. I haven't been taking vitamin C lately, but plan to start.
"Low and normal levels of LDH do not usually indicate a problem. Low levels are sometimes seen when a patient ingests large amounts of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). "
I get 5,000 IU capsuls of vitamin D3 (powder-type cholecalciferol) from the Life Extension Foundation. I always buy capsules rather than tablets when I have a choice because capsules dissolve faster and better. LEF says that their D3 is a synthetic form, but it is almost exactly the same. It is obvious that it has worked for me.

Hi EarlyBird!
I'm using Carlson Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), 1000 IU. I bought mine, and many of my other supplements from Vitacost. I like this one, because it's a softgel.
Nightowl, I use this brand. I think they are better priced than LEF and they have proven to work according to my blood tests. Maybe not with shipping. I don't know.
Maybe you can get your doc to give you a B12 shot when you see him just for an extra boost.
I shop a lot at www.vitacost.com and www.iherb.com I think their prices are real good. I rarely shop at LEF and you can get their products at one of the above sites at reduced cost. Free shipping at iherb if you purchase over $40.
See! You don't have to be an LEF member to get good prices. I usually just buy their vitamin K but I get it here: https://www.iherb.com/Life-Extension

The B12 shot is a good idea. I will be seeing a new doctor on the 24th so I will take my blood test results with me.
When it comes to vitamins, or any supplement for that matter, I like knowing that I can depend on LEF's supplements having what the label states inside. They have pharmaceutical grade and they test their products. Their shipping costs $5.50 no matter how many things you order. I do use a few other brands and I do order a few things through Vitacost. I used to order nattokinase from IHerb till they quit carrying the brand my doctor wants me to have. I buy Bio-Tec high dose vitamin D3 and they are great....I might try their 5,000 IU capsules.
I have noticed a few places selling LEF products and I kinda think it may be that it's surplus...because they have annual overstock specials for members. Also, when they improve a product and add another ingredient, they put the older version on sale. There's nothing wrong with the older one, they are just making way for the new.
I'm kinda in a hurry now...so I hope I'm making sense!

"Oral cobalamin, 1 to 2 mg/day [1000 to 2000 mcg per day], is the treatment of choice for most patients. This [oral] dose is as effective and possibly superior to a parenteral [shots] regimen in all causes of cobalamin deficiency because 1 to 2% of an oral dose is always absorbed by diffusion. For patients who may not be compliant [may not continue treatment on their own], intramuscular or subcutaneous cyanocobalamin can be given.
Methylcobalamin has some advantages neither of the other types do. It is the natural form of B12, made by the bacteria that must form natural B12. It does not need to be converted, and it has been proven very helpful not only for those who can be shown deficient in B12 but in many who with correct testing cannot: including some ALS and MS cases.
Thanks Ted. I've taken methylcobalamin sublingually before, a few years ago, but didn't test to see how well I absorbed it. I guess it might be a good idea to try the oral route first, after just reading that I would have to keep taking the injections forever. I thought it would just be a booster shot a few times a year. I'll look into it.
One of the big alternative docs, but I can't remember who, put out info on the regenerative attributes to B12 injections, as opposed to tablets. He said that B12 1000mg in a DAILY shot for neuropathy and almost any other neuro-degenerative issue can benefit. And it does need to be the M type, not the C type vitamin B12.
No side effects could be seen and some of these nerve disorders can reduce but you have to hit is long and hard with the injections. I wish I still had that paper but seem to have lost it. I think the shots are better if you can get them and I have spoken to many people over the years that feel a positive effect almost immediately but I have never met anyone who took the shot daily.

Some people are easily fooled into thinking that because a substance is injected it must be used better. In practice those who have no finanacial interest in supplying medicines in the most expensive forms find that oral Methylcobalamin providing you are compliant in taking it, provides an ideal response that is NOT any less effective than shots.
I really don't believe that shots are a natural way of taking anything,
Getting a smaller amount daily from a sublingual tablet may not be natural but it's almost certain to provide a more even supply than shots every month.
Although that talk comes from the same series as The ones that are found on this page it is my least favorite.
Must as I respect Holick and the work he has done over the years I don't particularly enjoy his manner of presentation. But we are all different.
