Default Question about adding DE to a pitcher of water...

Hello. Can you answer a question for me, i have been taking DE and recently read of adding it to a pitcher of water. Now, do I stir it up before I drink it? And would it be bad if i added lets say 1/4 cup DE to a gallon pitcher?
Also, how often would i dump it and clean the pitcher?

Thanks for you help!

I find DE very binding (constipating). You only need to add a tablespoon to the gallon. Then replace the used water daily. No stirring/shaking required. Adding water is enough agitation, or if you feel like it then swirl it a little. That little bit will last a year, but I like to start over once a month. Adding more will just be a waste.

Some protocol is to take a tablespoon in a mug or glass of water each day. That should help the bowels (but not for me). However, you won't get so much silica, as it needs to sit in water for a while.

Even though this is a really good source of silica, you still get silica in all fibrous vegetables. Silica is also the chief nutrient for your friendly gut bacteria.

I did that for a few weeks. Then I found that I must have been doing too much. It, along with many other things, made me constipated. So now, I keep a gallon of water with a tablespoon of the DE and drink a glass a day. By letting it sit in water for a while, it forms orthosilicic acid, which is more easily absorbed by humans. When just taking the DE immediately, you are only helping with the mild scraping of the intestinal lining and the killing of parasites. Both forms are good.

Also, silica is best absorbed with acid, like lemon, but don't add lemon to the gallon since it is organic. Organic means that it will contaminate the water over time. Silica, in the form of silicon, is one of the Earth's crust's most abundant mineral, so you will find it in most plants. https://mistupid.com/geology/earthcrust.htm You can't avoid it. Much like aluminum. Just can't be avoided. However silica binds to aluminum, so don't worry.

I have been using DE for almost a year now, and have had no bad side effects. It makes sense that it is safe for human consumption since it used to be abundant in the soil and the foods that grew from that soil. I have clearer skin, harder nails, and my hair grows faster. As for how it may be helping my overall health, I can't tell you, as my lab results are good to begin with despite some major health issues.

I only take a measured tablespoon daily.

So, i wonder if you added DE to your garden soil. or your water for your garden if it would improve the silica in your veggies from your garden... it would help keep some of the ants and pest away

Yes. It is a mineral. Plants use it. It is from the shells of prehistoric sea creatures. Silica is also abundant in the Earth's crust, so that comes to the surface soil after millions of years.

In the spring, I sift a little on my window sill to keep ants from wanting to come in the kitchen. It sticks to their legs. They hate that. Just be careful, because it is a fine dust that you can get everywhere but where you want it.

I did a lot of research and have been taking DE now for 2 weeks- each morning with a little water. I started taking it to make my hair grow but then after all the research it sounded like the miracle drug for EVERYTHING! You do have do drink lots of water I have read while taking it and the health food store tried to sell me something else in order to use it as a colon cleanse. I do feel better, don't get the 3:00 tired feeling and I am less hungry which is great since I am trying to lose weight anyway. So far I can't say for sure about it but I do feel better and will continue with it.

This is an informative link. And it's interesting to note that DE is already added to some bread flours for its anti-caking qualities.
