Woke up one morning in April with inflamation and not being able to move in early April and the road since then has been on that gives me new symptoms each week. More testing will take place, but the rumetologist is leaning towards lupus. I seem to need 12hrs sleep on weekends and less than 8hrs cripples me the next day.
My symptoms
The most recent have been the top of the head hurting
chest pains
and nausea
ulcers on tongue - making it hard to eat and drink or talk
continuing to develop are
swollen lymph glands
swollen ankles up to knees
swollen under feet (overall 3 shoes sizes bigger)
joints, esp fingers, wrist and forearm
neck stiffness
trouble walking at times - feet or hips
staph infection (just found a wk ago by derm)
sometimes heart beating really fast
inflamation in chest and breathing when not taking prednesone
mental off and on
I would also take vitamin D3 from www.vitalady.com
there are many posts here on D3. Start with a mega dose for up to two weeks then reduce to 5,000 IU daily

Hi GreenSurfer, welcome to the forum! I have a friend who found relief from her fibromyalgia by taking Magnesium Malate (Source Naturals brand). Here's a couple of articles that may offer some suggestions for you.
Greensurfer, do not despair dude, you came to the right place.
As K2C said, Mag maleate. Also, DHEA if it is Lups, but if you have either one of those, they are both autoimmune. Stay away from dairy (butter is ok, since their are no proteins, but milk, yogurt, cheese etc are no nos). Also, take a good grade of fish oil and turmeric and ginger root. Keep us up to date. Good news and bad news:
Bad news first: you will not get better tomorrow or next week.
Good news: if you stay natural and keep meds to a minimum, you will get better (usually, alternative medicine and diet changes take 8-12 weeks to kick in, but they do kick in).
Prednisone, get off it NOW (take half the doage today and a quarter tomorrow and then quit)! Fish oil, turmeric, ginger root, but it sounds like your body is currently overwhelmed by something. Try a water fast (24 hrs with purified water only) to detox. But definitely start up the natural anti inflamatories and if you live near a real city, go find a chinese herbal store and get see the herbalist and get some accupuncture.
I had pains as your friend did Kind2Creatures. A naturopathic medical doctor in Dallas had me take magnesium malate also and it worked. She said that some women get those types of pains in pre-menapausal life, I was about 47 or so. It worked quickly. But I needed several bottles to get past it and it never came back.
At that time my thryoid levels were low also. Not out of normal range but she said she thinks that thryoid hormone scales are set to low for a good normal. She put me on a thryoid booster capsule from the same company that worked so well I only used the one bottle.
This tells me that it was a mineral deficiency brought on by changing physiological needs causing muscle pain.
At that time I found out that there is a quality difference in Magnesium malate products. The one she gave me worked and it came from Progressive Labs in Dallas area, or perhaps their address is Los Colinas or Irving. But another 2 brands I bought did not work... and I don't remember what they were, but likely something I got from Iherb.
There are many causes for fibromyalgia like symptoms. You won't know what will work until you try and most doctors don't know how to figure it out, and even with the doctor I went to it was just and educated guess. There were not tests to reveal the source of pain.

I have had miraculous (I don't use that word lightly) healing being treated by an upper cervical specific chiropractor for a bit over a year now. Dreadful headaches of decades' standing, vertigo, pain in bones, joints, muscles, basically everywhere, sick feeling, balance problems - all amazingly improved. These chiropractors are not easy to find, as it requires more years of training, but when the neck is in alignment, then the nerves can heal. It's not a fast process, but I felt great improvement from the first adjustment. Good luck. Greensurfer, you don't give your location, but in the great Sacramento, California area, I highly recommend Dr. Tom Gibson in Folsom at (916) 259-5000, or thefolsomchiropractor.com. He's very caring, competent, and goes way beyond what he needs to do for each and every patient. He's a ray of sunshine in the blackness of my Kaiser medical care and I truly feel he's given me back my life. I was practically bedridden for years until he began treating me.

Thanks Arrow, I'll have to check into this.

Saved thanks for your posting. I will try to stay away from those things. I've been taking fish oil for a while and ginger is something I've been using in my cooking for a while. I'd love to think keeping natural would help, but after 1,000 of dollars and 2 years of being natural (naturaopath, health stores, organic and more vegetarian) I woke up with this condition one morning.

saved, yep I'd love to but I was hospitalized last Sunday during my fathers funeral and I've followed a strict path and change in lifestyle for 2 years before this all came on. Pretty much at the mercy of doctors, even though I hadn't a single drug for 2years....I was partial fasting and detoxing the month before I woke up with this progressive condition. Blood test done in December 2010 were fine and then in May theres this rapid decline and even worse still declining when I had my test done in the hospital this week. I was also recieving acupuncture for almost a year and have run out of money and debts climbing to be able to do much natural anymore. And now many payments for the medical side.......Faith in the Lord is where I'm at.

Arrow, thanks. I'll have to check into that. I already order from progressive labs through my naturopath. fibromyalgia hasn't been diagnosed yet, but as of monday I was with lupus.

Thanks JanH, maybe down the road when I have enough money I can. But I've already spent 2 years of money on natural treatments before this disease came. Including a chiropractor. My location is in the middle of no where and the nearest big city CHICAGO, 2hrs by train.
My next steps is to go through eveything the doctors tell me - a very hard thing to do since I've been proactive for 2yrs, but I've felt death knocking at my door and am veryy verry tired with little time to do a lot and long days at work. My fathers passing last week also makes for a hard process of keeping my stress down.
Greensurfer, when all come to naught, MMS1 only costs about $20.
There are many causes of fibro. Many causes of Lupus too. I suspect microbes in many of these cases. You will not be able to do much better than MMS if indeed, it is a microbe problem

thanks arrow, something I'll have to check into later......I don't have internet so little by little I'm trying to get things done once a week as I can.

Already tested 2mths ago for lyme, I thought it was leaning that direction and as the months have progressed, symptoms show lupus and positive on test. I can still try the magnesium.
greensurfer, get the book spontaneous healing by andrew weil ASAP and read it. Very good read and will help you out. Lupus is auto immune and reversable, it just takes time
