B-17/laetrile is a proven cancer-fighter, though its real strength is as a preventative.
B-17 requires the presence of zinc, which acts as a 'transport mechanism'. Zinc is present in abundance in natural food sources of B-17 i.e. Hunza apricot kernels, unrefined millet, seeds etc., so no issue there. But if 'you' were taking isolated B-17 i.e. as a supplement, without zinc it wouldn't reach the tissues, so it would fail.
And, from 'Outsmart Your Cancer' by Tanya Harter-Pierce
Laetrile stands for laevo-rotatory mandelonitrile beta-diglucoside. Laevo refers to a purified form of B-17, that turns polarized light in a left-turning direction.
According to Ralph Moss, Dr Krebs junior, believed only the left-turning form was effective against cancer and that commercial racemic (both left and right turning) versions were much less effective than the pure laetrile he and his father had patented. Thus it is a good idea to double-check the purity of the laetrile in use by any practitioner with whom you are considering working
