Calcium--Practically the same for the last four tests. But I am confused, because for the last 6 months I have been taking vitamin K2 which is supposed to take calcium out of my blood and put it in my bones. If it did wouldn't my blood calcium go down at least some. My last 4 tests have been 9.4, 9.3, 9.4, and now 9.5. Whats up with that?
I have been taking 400 mg of calcium citrate for 6 months also and my values are 2.3, 2.4, 2.4 and then after 6 months of 400 mg its still 2.4, Whats up with that?
The body works to maintain homeostasis in blood levels of calcium. Extra calcium either gets deposited somewhere or eliminated. Even people with severe osteoporosis can have "normal" calcium levels in the blood. It does not inticate much.
K2 and D3 will be depositing calcium. It wont change your blood levels of calcium

My bad! I have been taking 400 mg of magnesium citrate. I haven't been taking any calcium.
Same with magnesium. Blood levels work to maintain homeostasis. Its why you don't drop dead from a heart attack unless things get absolutely critical. You can be severely depleated of mag or calcium intracellularly and still have normal blood level readings.
An intercellular mag. study needs to be done to be sure but docs dont do it. Very costly. But if you supplement you will eventually get your intercellular levels up and when you do, if you were depleated, as most people are, you should feel some kind of improvement.... on the other hand low intercellular levels can not have symtoms sometimes until things are quite desparate.
The best way to supplement with mag. aside from intravenous is by topical transdermal applications. Studies have been done. It works the best for most people as their long term mag deficiencies actually create a stituation where you loose the ability to absorbe mag. orally. That, I think can be corrects after long term supplementation.
www.iherb.com sells liquid mag. that I like better than the magnesium oil products that make me itch! Just put it in a spray bottle.
Believe it or not, bone density is a function of protein intake. The more protein you take in, the weaker your bones will become. If you want to increase bone density, try a lower protein diet with weight lifting twice a week.

Thanks Arrowwind09 for such an informative answer. I had a bottle of Iherb magnesium that was never opened. My wife put it in a spray bottle and we began using it yesterday. Thanks again.
