Hmm, I found this article:
www.usnews.com/education/best-graduation-schools/articles/2011/04/12/medical-schools-embrace-alternative-medicine
It talks about schools in CA, AZ, MD that embrace alt med.
I don't know if Atlanta has medical schools that teach alternative medicine but the large hospital that he worked at is a teaching hospital and has doctors from all over coming in and out all the time. The doctor that wrote him the excuse for the flu vaccine left right after that. All the doctors (and of course nurses who are always saying things like that!) were American, but:
The doctor at the small hospital his mother was in who said Americans don't ask their doctors anything, they just do whatever they say blindly, was British, about 50 years old. My husband was not born in the U.S. so he always finds himself in conversations with other foreigners about the ignorance of Americans! When they hear his accent and find out he is into natural things they talk about how frustrated they are with Americans and how you can't tell them anything, they're brainwashed and have a superior attitude and are unwilling to learn or make efforts with their health beyond pop-a-pill.
The article above says that 40% of Americans are into Alternative Medicine--that's good but it leaves 60% with whom to be frustrated with!
