DE is not antibacterial. It is considered antiparasitic to those larger parasites such as worms. DE is 80% silica which can be used as fuel for the probiotics. There should be no problem taking the 2 together. Although DE is very small, it is not smaller than bacteria.

I have no pains while using DE and had none when I started. However, I was not using MMS at the same time. The only problem I ever have with DE, is that it sometimes binds my feces. This happens when I am not careful and forget how important fiber is for the digestion. And water.

DE is benign. Silica is an abundant mineral in your body. You are just adding more. The attractive part is that these miniscule "shards" are helping to clean the intestinal lining and giving more nutrients a chance to get into your system, as well as helping to destroy some pathogens by ripping apart their skin or shell. MMS is not benign. It is aggressive.

I'm using DE on my lawn for insects. I know there's food grade for live stock, just wondering from reading this post, what are the benefits?

The second website I've been to before. I actually have some that I put in my back yard for fleas. Are there any scientific studies? I just read that it can help lower blood pressure, which is a bold claim and googling DE and blood pressure nothing comes up, except posts on message boards. I'd like to see some study even if it's a lose study on the benefits if possible.

I did not know that about silica and blood pressure. It makes sense in that silica does maintain the elasticity of the blood vessels. So, that might be of benefit to blood pressure.

To find benefits of DE toward health, you should search for health benefits of silica. I had no need to find scientific research, as I tend to trust anecdotal evidence, unless I think there may be something of which I should beware. For example, I have not found any research on MMS, but I have researched how chlorine dioxide works in the chemical world.

Here is a page with some studies and references. This might help you to feel more comfortable. https://www.insidershealth.com/articl...e_element/2367

On that page, there is a list of benefits. At the bottom, there are references.
Quote:
There are many reasons for silica supplementation, including:

  1. Silica Inhibits the aging process in tissues
  2. Silica helps maintain bone density and strength by facilitating deposits of calcium and minerals into the bone matrix. Strengthens weak connective tissue and improves its structure and function
  3. Silica is vital for articular cartilage development. It has an solidifying action (in the ossification process or of bony reminralisation, and a flexibility and elasticity action on tendons, joints and skin.
  4. Silica supports the inner lining of arterial tissue and increases the elasticity of blood vessels. Increases the elasticity and firmness of blood vessels, making them less likely to develop atherosclerosis - when silicon rejuvenates connective tissue, atherosclerotic swelling vanishes
  5. Silica can help maintain a youthful skin tone and increase collagen levels.
  6. Silica helps hair grow thicker and stronger and nails grow faster and harder.
  7. Silica stimulates the immune system to fight off disease-causing invaders bacteria; viruses; toxins, since it is essential to the triggering process of manufacture of the antigens and antibodies.
  8. Silica stimulates cell metabolism and cell formation, has mild disinfecting properties, and is an anti-inflammatory.

Expected Results

  • Facilitates deposits of calcium and minerals into the bone matrix
  • Aids in remineralizing the skeletal structure
  • Aids in articular cartilage development
  • Helps to strengthen connective tissue
  • Supports the structure and increases the elasticity of blood vessels
  • Helps to retain moisture in tissue right under the skin which can help prevent wrinkles
  • Helps promote healthy hair, skin & nails
If you are uncomfortable with DE, there are other organic sources of silica.
