I went shopping yesterday and bought a whole bunch of food off a low GI list I had printed. Today I started cooking all my meals from scratch. I was having sweet cravings but I had some fruit and that helped. I can\'t do low carb, but low GI seems very doable, especially since the higher GI foods are allowed occasionally(just recommended to mix them with low GI foods to balance it out). \r\n <!-' + '- / message -' + '->\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n <!-' + '- message, attachments, sig -' + '->\r\n\r\n \n \nI\'m enjoying cooking anyway. I had a smoothie for breakfast, a wrap for lunch, nuts and fruit for snacks in between, and home made stew for dinner(beef, sweet potatoes, yellow pepper, onions, tomatoes, garlic, spices, whole wheat flour for thickness.. really good). My mind is going a bit crazy from time to time thinking about junk food but I keep reminding myself that I have one day a week where I am going to allow it so it\'s not that big of a deal. \n \nNow, getting my 3 year old to enjoy these healthy meals is a bit tougher.. lol\r\n | \r\n

Diet for Low Blood Sugar/Mood Disorders
I desperately need to change my way of eating. I've been in debt for the last year and was only able to use food banks for groceries.. So, lots of processed foods. I WANT to eat healthy now that things are improving financially.
I get paid on Wednesday and would like to go shopping. I am going to aim for a low GI diet, high protein, 5-6 small meals a day, everything cooked from scratch and eliminate sugar. Does this seem like a good solution to low blood sugar and the mood problems that go with it? The tough part is going to be the sugar, I know I am hooked on it and I've never been able to give it up for health reasons. I think that giving it up for emotional reasons is more motivation though. |
