So... You just eat the spoonful of peanut butter with nothing else? No crackers to put it on... Bread, toast? Just right off the spoon? Gotta admit it works, but I still like the cracker or bread on it.
Some people even mix it into their coffee.. I'm not sure how the heck that's supposed to work, but.....
I used to like Ritz with peanut butter and cheese
Nothing wrong with Peanut Butter.. Good source of protein in the morning.
Just so you are aware, peanuts are generally contaminated with fungi, in fact, several varieties of fungi, which is why I don't use peanut butter.
I can recall a story about a man who ate fistfulls of shelled peanuts on a daily basis, and one day he became very sick. You guessed it...severe fungal infection... and after a year or two, was still fighting it.

I read somewhere here that some fat in the morning is actually good for you (your brain needs fat and sugar, right?).
I have a taste of peanut butter (crunchy) now and then, on the spoon too, no crackers. I don't ever buy the stuff with sugar though. I usually get the cheaper Kroger brand 'natural crunchy', and the only ingredients are roasted peanuts and salt. Healthy treat at night too, better than ice cream or cake.

I like the Smart Balance brand. Contains peanuts, evaporated cane juice, natural oil blend (palm fruit and flaxseed oils), salt, molasses. A serving of 2 tbsp gives 3G of sugar. Very little oil separation, so no stirring is necessary. That's what I mostly like about it.
The brands that mothers give to their children contain trans fats. Jif contains "MADE FROM ROASTED PEANUTS AND SUGAR (doesn't say what kind), CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF: MOLASSES, FULLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OILS (RAPESEED AND SOYBEAN), MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, SALT."
Peter Pan PB is WAY worse. Peanuts, Corn Syrup Solids, Soy Protein, Sugar, Salt, Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (Partially Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil and Partially Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil), Minerals (Magnesium Oxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Phosphate, Copper Sulfate) and Vitamins (Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid).

Wow, the peter pan peanut butter (which is marketed for kids) sure is bad... Hmmm... Crapola, and we used to use this... And also give it out.... Damnit... Just when you think something labeled for kids will be semi all right for them to have... Read the label... First rule of everything... Read the label
Walnuts are the best and most nutritious nut. A handful of those a day will do you the power of good.
Almonds are excellent too. Ground almonds make a valuable addition to the diets of people who might have trouble forcing down whole almonds (i.e. elderly people, children) because they are quite chewy.

I've noticed that anything marketed toward children will have more sugar. I don't care what kind of sugar. Just more of it. Including over the counter medicines. Apparently sugar is no problem for children . Must be their metabolism.

You could be right on that... I actually looked up a study of McDonalds and do you realize that "happy meals" have about 1.87 times the sugar of regular meals?
I didn't know this, and I am sure some will call me a crackpot for repeating it, but... it has to be said.. But then, almost all of McDonalds food has an absurd amount of sugar in it.. so.. it could very well be true...
Next time you go grocery shopping, check out the labels on cereal boxes. Check the difference between those marketed for adults and those marketed toward children. That's a good example.

True enough...
I have seen some cereals for adults that were loaded with sugar as well..
One of the "Komplete" brands had lots of sugar. Even Special K with the blueberries seemed to have it's fair share....
Any way you slice it, it appears that breakfast is the meal of the day where we tend to get the most sugar...
So.. Chris might be on to something.. Better to go with the peanut butter....
Breakfast - just nothing better than a doughnut or my favorite, bear claw. I haven't had any such thing for years, but it is ok to dream.
One teaspoon of granulated white sugar is equal to about 4.2 grams. There are approximately 4-8 grams of sugar in a teaspoon of sugar, depending on its granularity.
So next time you read the label of a can of soda and see that it has 40 grams of sugar, you'll know that you are going to drink about 10 teaspoons of sugar. Just think about it. And think of why the teenage population is so obese.
There was a program on TV the other night and it was saying how sugar goes into some sausages. It was an English program. They said that was why kids liked them. I never like sausages even at barbecues. Even less reason to eat them now.
