New study: vitamin D again shown to boost testosterone levels

Association between plasma 25-OH vitamin D and testosterone levels in men.

While this research found Testosterone plateaued at 85nmol/l (34ng/ml) it may be worth pushing levels up to 125nmol/l 50ng/ml as that is the level humans living near naked outdoor lives generally reach vitamin D equilibrium. It's also where vitamin D exerts it's most potent anti inflammatory action.
People generally require 1000iu per 25lbs they weigh and it's worth getting a 25(OH)D TEST They charge 25 for UK folk and 30 for International customers. It will probably take 3 ~6 months to get levels up so there is no need to rush for the test but because many people require much more it is worth checking as you may very well require more than I have suggested.

Hey med talk

This is going to sound a little bit weak but one of my best friends had a serious problem with his testosterone levels but when he approached the Doctor he was told the best way to increase your natural production is to exercise regularly.

He started going to the gym three times a week (it was a real struggle especially as he has lower testosterone in the first place), however he is now much better and his level has nearly doubled.

Just a thought

Effects of magnesium supplementation on testosterone levels of athletes and sedentary subjects at rest and after exhaustion. but we see here that giving athletes (who get more exercise than sedentary people) magnesium had a greater impact on their testosterone than it did to sedentary folks. So it's true Exercise increased testosterone levels, it's also true that magnesium improved testosterone levels as well.
It's also a fact that no one, man or woman will get their hormones levels right if they are vitamin D deficient and rather than use the medical definition of deficiency we should think that anything less than the level humans naturally attain and maintain living near naked outdoor lives is what human DNA regards as sufficient.
City Assays Vitamin D Blood Spot TestIf it's less than 125nmol/l 50ng/ml then as far as your DNA is concerned you could do better.

Somehow I managed to miss this thread entirely, until I noticed it today.

Testosterone is (by weight) 100% cholesterol, so if you want to increase your level and keep it there, eat eggs, butter, coconut oil, shrimp, etc., and stop using margerine and cooking oils.

If you are taking statin drugs, they will prevent your liver from making cholesterol, so the solution is obvious..

You could soft-boil or soft-scramble (not fry) 3 or 4 eggs daily (in butter) and that will fix your issue with low T.

Cholesterol isn't the problem, ignorant doctors are..

Great to hear that your friend's doc made him try hitting the gym first, good doctor.

That's your opinion and it seems totally misguided to me.
Low testosterone is a sign that both magnesium and vitamin D deficiency are rife.
Magnesium controls well over 300 different enzyme actions and Vitamin D well over 2000.
Getting to the gym isn't going to alter those fundamental flaws in the way the hormonal system is operating. It's a question of priorities and while getting to the gym may be a good idea for those with masochistic tendencies sensible people should be able to stay fit and healthy without the use of gym.

Those who are physically handicapped would have a different mindset & their approach to achieving 'health' would be through supplements.
The human body is designed to move & if that isn't provided, everything begins to break down whether you're poppin' pills or not.

The gym is an excellent place to exercise & has nothing to do with masochistic tendencies. OMG maybe you should visit one to observe so you don't sound so silly in posts.
