Default Does taking pure Vitamins make you or your sweat smell?

Ever since I started using vitamins pure and weighing them out myself(Basing dosages off of a nutrition drink I used to use) People claim that my room smells like it, I smell funny, the bathroom smells after I've been in it, etc...

The vitamins i'm taking consists of:

Vitamin A 4MGS twice daily
Vitamin C 1000MGS twice daily
Vitamin B-1(Thiamine) 30MGS twice daily
Vitamin B-2(Riboflavin) 30MGS twice daily
Niacin 40MGS twice daily
Vitamin B-5 150MGS twice daily
Vitamin B-6 30MGS twice daily
Vitamin D-3 750IU twice daily(not pure, precapsuled)

Also on 3 difference occasions 2 separate people said I smell like Kraft Dinner and when I was getting a hair cut the hair cutter said it smells like burnt kraft dinner.

I don't know if this is the vitamins or not, but i don't see anything else it could possibly be, is this normal? should I be worried? is it a bad idea to take vitamins pure like this?

Thanks!!

I've never noticed such a response except to ALA which changes to ordor of the urine.

I dont know what to say. So this odor goes away when you stop taking them?

Assuming you mean Milligrams in all the levels quoted, then there are 2 levels which could be problematic:

1)You dont say what type of Vitamin A whether it is fat soluble or beta carotene you are using.

If the vitamin A is retinol, the fat soluble type, the normal RDA is 900 MICROGRAMS which means you are taking 8 TIMES the recommended dose.
This fat soluble vitamin builds up in the tissues and can cause all sorts of problems including liver failure, especially if taken every day.

2) Again if the type of Vitamin B3 is NIACIN and not buffered B3, called NIACINAMIDE, then the probable cause of your body odor is the niacin which at the level you are taking can cause detox symptoms. Again taking high amounts of niacin can stress the liver.

Personally making my own B vitamins from bulk powders would be the the last thing I would do. Not only is there a danger of getting it wrong, but other elements of a standard B Complex such as PABA, Choline, Folic acid and B12 are missing.

But 40 mg of niacin 2 x day is hardly a high dosage. I would not change to nicacinamide as it is not as effective.

I suggest that you eliminate one vitamin at a time and see if the odor goes away so you can track down which is doing it to you. Then we might be able to determine something

A detox is not a bad thing but because you are putting off an odor it may be more that your pathways of detoxification can handle well.

Liverock offers good advice (though not NaturalNews). When metabolized, both niacin and vitamin B6 produce pyridine as metabolic waste, which is known to produce an unpleasant odor. Here is a list of common odor-causing chemicals: human odor chemicals.

Just another indication that taking large doses of synthetic vitamins might not be without negative side effects.

The higher the bodily toxins the lower the dose of niacin required to start detoxing. You can tell how bad your toxin levels are by the dosage required
to get the well known 'niacin flush'. If you start detoxing at low levels such as 80mg/day without a 'flush',which I think is the cause here, it usually means theres still plenty more to come out.
Personally I think there are better ways to get rid of toxins without the strain that niacin puts on the liver.

Thanks for your help since i read this I cut down my vitamin A to about 1 milligan a day, maybe 2 at the most. I have now added Vitamin B12 to my daily list taking about 600mcg twice daily. I read abit more about niacin and ill prob keep the same dose, for now.

And about the smelling like kraft dinner thing, when all my vitamin containers full of vitamins are in a bag and i smell the inside of the bag, it smells very simular kraft dinner and I noticed that Thiamine particularly does. So i don't know what to think.. when I used tangy tangarine which had these doses this never happened, I don't know what to think it worries me just alittle

I wonder if you would benefit from some intensive sauna therapy for a while? Sweat out some toxins and get your drainage system working better.
