I love squats. Walking squats are great too. Some call them lunges. Another great exercise is the simple but powerful pushup. It feels good to be strong.

These squats and all weight bearing exercises help people who have metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance or the more advanced stages called diabetes reverse the cellular dysfunction.

that guys does not squat properly at all... the back should always remain straight, and vertical. the moment the back curves or tilts forward, one is no longer doing a proper squat, and if they are using weights, are at a great risk of back or knee injury.

the feet need to be wider than the shoulders, and casually pointed outwards in order for this to work and be comfortable. one should not feel a burn in their quads, rather the majority of the motion is in the glutes.

I agree with everything except keeping vertical part. You need to keep your butt out, which will cause it to not be completely vertical. I agree that it needs to be straight, but just not completely vertical.

Everything else is dead on that you wrote is dead on and most people make these mistakes.

Here is an excellent video with common mistakes
"Your butt should be slightly out, your eyes should be facing forward."

Mark Rippetoe is the squat guru - go nowhere else other than his unrivalled primer, "Starting Strength"

There is only one squat worth squat - and it's the barbell "back" squat. The gym junkie guy is almost there, but still has the bar a little high, and has his wrists cocked. Like most poor form, this throws weight forward on the toes, and introduces knee strain.

He is probably squatting a little too deep in the demo - squatting deep is good, but not so deep that the lower spine starts to flex. The golden rule is that the entire spine is locked rigidly straight for the entire rep, if not the entire set.

Just sayin...
